is my newest colorway. Julsey from Peony Knits contacted me about doing a custom colorway for her. She said she liked pinks, yellow and green. We looked at a few different pictures and below is one I really liked.

She mentioned that the green was too dark in the picture and she wanted it to be much brighter in her yarn. What caught my eye in this picture was the shades of pink and the variegated white throughout. She wanted self-striping superwash too. I loved the challege of this! I’ve never really considered myself an artist so I guess this is as close as I’ll ever get. After work at the shop I came home, warped the board and got to work on mixing the colors. I even made little mini-skeins Dave, as testers. For the Queen of Impatience that was a big deal. This is what I came up with. The picture doesn’t capture the true colors very well but you get the idea. I ended up doing 2 shades of pink, yellow & green. I didn’t cover the yarn solidly as I really wanted some of the white to come through. Clicky to see up close.

I’m really happy with how it came out and want to do it again. I’m thinking of doing a variegated version of it too. Leave me some feedback okay? I want to just dye what people want and would love to know if this one would be a good colorway to sell.
I need to get going on another custom order. I had someone order two, superwash skeins of Appletini. That one is wicked popular! Oh! Also? I spoke with one of the owners of the shop who was excited about carrying my hand painted yarn. How cool will that be? “Hi! You want some sock yarn? How about some really cool yarn dyed by ME!” Heh.
I’m off to the Farmer’s Market. I told the kids we’d go get some breakfast there and pick up some other goodies. Anyone awake? Want to meet us there? I’ll be at work from 12:30-6 today so come visit me and check out all of the new stuff we put out this week. The one yarn that created hours of humor yesterday was the new Louisa Harding yarn called Shingle. Why, in the world would you name a yarn that? And yes, I get that it’s from her Beachcomber Bay Collection. But come on….. I’m going to try and sell as much of that today as possible. “Hi! Can I help you? Would you like some Shingles?” I’m so mature…..I think she needs a Crabs yarn too. “I think the Crabs would look great with Shingle!” Okay. I’ll stop.
