And She’s Down.

Supergirl that is. She’s sick which means I’m home for the day. She got a really weird headache yesterday with a little bit of a fever which of course was magically taken care of with some Motrin. She didn’t sleep well last night and still doesn’t look so hot. Of course, since she never complains about anything, she wanted to go to school today. Mama knows best and tried to explain to her how her friends at school wouldn’t be too happy with her if she got them sick. So, Supergirl home sick = Scout gets lots of stuff done. So far I’ve gone for a run and completely cleaned and organized all of my knitting supplies and stash. Yes. Stash. I have pictures too. There’s a lot. But, you’ll have to wait for that. I’m going to finally buy something to put it all in and take the chance that maybe T. won’t even notice how much yarn I really have. Once I finish organizing it I’ll let you take a peek.

I was also home yesterday and I was able to get two more skeins dyed. One was actually with my girlfriend Mona. She had so much fun dying some yarn for her son. Here are a few pictures of that. After she left I took my time winding up some more sock yarn for Supergirl and named this one *Scoutlet*. The picture isn’t great. It’s fuchsia, turquoise & gray. She loves it of course.

After I get my stash organized I’m going to make my warping board. I hit Lowe’s yesterday morning and got everything I need to make one twice the size of the one I’ve been using. I want to be able to dye up to 6 colors if I want. The boys were very helpful even if they couldn’t understand why in the world I’d want to make something to make stripey yarn. I even brought a white skein of yarn and my BoyWonder yarn to show them what it does. The boy had a very perplexed look on his face but helped me nonetheless. I can make a warping board twice the size of the $55.00 one for about $25.00. Here is my before picture. I love that the glue is called Gorilla Glue!

One final picture. In the spirit of Project Spectrum I finally did a little collage of a few things in my house that are yellowand orange.

I promise to keep the phone by me while I make the warping board in case I lose any fingers. Just call me MacGyver. I’m so rigging this thing up. Power tools here I come. And I bet you don’t think I can do it do you? Just you wait, you pessimists. Don’t come asking me to make you one once you see how cool it will be. Mona thinks I should sell them……

Be careful! It will be hard to knit the yarn without all your
fingers;-) Hope SG is well quickly.

Hi Supergirl - I hope you feel better soon.

Did I tell you that my flight lands at 3:30 this evening, and I’ll be coming over to PLAY all weekend? You have the bestest fun, even when there is a sick little one around.

Let me tell you we sell gorilla glue at work and like the package says its the worlds strongest glue! We reocmmend it for most anything. A word of warning though, make sure you put on gloves when you use ti. At work one day we were putting a broken lamp base back together for a lady using GORILLA GLUE and didn’t wear gloves like it suggests and of course the next day Char’s hands were red raw for the next few days, dry and itchy! so WEAR THEM :)
What kind of dye is it your using this time??
Scoutlet is such an awesome colourway!

You go with the power tools! Just be careful. Knitters need their hands and their eyes.

I have nothing but faith in you… and I’ll be pestering you for the measurements you used to make the board! Thinking of your experience with the stripey yarn and dreaming of my own got me through a shitty run yesterday without too much whining.
