Vodka? Check!

Many of you are not getting one of my feeds so all of the sudden you’ll see 3 posts from me. I’ve been a busy grrl so keep up. Okay? Flarging Bloglines. I just finished making my own warping board, all by myself and I am so damn proud. I even got a layer of varnish on it and everything. I can now dye up to 6 colors if I want. How beautiful is this?

board

I love her. I’m too tired at this point to write out the instructions. I’ll do it tomorrow I promise. T. is filing down the metal pegs and then I’m going to sit tonight and wind my first skein of sock yarn for myself.

Oh. T. didn’t even flinch when he saw my stash. In fact, he was thrilled that I finally cleaned up the office. Go me!

And finally? I will not EVER be selling my yarns. Seriously. It’s so time consuming I’d kill myself trying to do it for money. So just love me lots and maybe? Just maybe I’ll dye some yarn and send it your way. I just like making pretty things and really like to spoil my friends.

Yay! You triumphed over the board! Looking forward to seeing some beautiful sock yarn dyeing on that. Hmm, maybe I’ll have to drag a few hanks of dyeable yarn along in October! :)

    Rest. Have a drink. Relax.

Your bloglines are working for me.
NICE board, you must feel so proud. Or drunk. Or drunk with pride. Yeah, that’s it, drunk with pride.
Looking forward to seeing it all warped up.

    oh.my.god.
my neck actually hurts from the whiplash i got from reading over themagic word to get me out of my weirdness: KOIGU.
oh, and because i slapped my forehead a little too hard from realizing that yes, that lovely picture of KOIGU i saw on your blog wasn’t my imagination.
KOIGU. yes, it’s been a while since i got me some koigu. i’ll have to go drool over that picture again.
    mmm…KOIGU.
thanks for the reminder. if ever i wander down that uncertain anti-yarn binge road again, don’t even hesitate to throw that out there again.
    you’re a lifesaver ;)

lovely dye jobs, too, btw. you are so CRAFTY! i love it!

oh, and a teensy question about the KOIGU…

would you happen to have / know of any that are tahitian pearl colored?
i had a tahitian pearl necklace once…it was a deep dark color with an iridescent green tinge to it. it was stolen from me not long after i got it after my birthday last year *sob*, but i was wondering if there are any colors in KOIGU that would fit the description?

i’m not familiar with their color / numbering system. if ever i were to buy KOIGU, it’d be that color…and the teal one you linked to in another post. i’m all about the blues and greens these days…

It’s like making sun tea. Just not possible out here in the land of pollution and humidity. Wahhhh - now I miss my sun tea. :(

Nice warping board! I’m excited to see what you can do with it.

I’m with you on the not being able to sell handmade stuff - that’s a LOT of work for not much profit. I like your idea of gifting stuff, though. Might have to do that with some of my backlog of handspun.

It looks great! But, how do you wind it? I mean, obviously not “how do you do it?” but how do you go about it? Which way? How often do you connect the colours? Do you go, “1, 2, 3, 2, 3, 4, 2″ or just “1 1 1 1 1, 2 2 2 2 2, 3 3 3 3 3″?

    I’m so clear. What?

I have no concept of how you even use one of those board thingys - so I am extra impressed that you actually made one. I take it you still have all 10 fingers?

Hey, if you ever want to send some espresso colored yarn my way, that’d be sweet :-P I think something in browns, and golds with some creme, like a rich shot of espresso with lots of golden crema would be a dream. There was some Koigu like that in the shop today, that I may end up coming in next week and impulse buying, we’ll see…
