shadow shawl

Oh yeah baybeeeeee. Koigu and Silky Wool will be a Shadow Shawl all for me! I just have to finish my dang Sockapaloooza socks first. Click the pictures to see them bigger. Isn’t that purple gorgeous? Who else wants to make this with me? Who has made it?? Almost everyone at the shop has made it and I’ve wanted to make one for a long time. And I just had to buy some more Koigu right? I don’t think it’s possible to have too much purple now is it?

Chris beat me to it… but I won’t join you in making the shawl, since I need to watch my weight, so to speak, yarn-wise, and my project queue is already a mile long. It looks lovely, though.

In case you are wondering how the above statement squares with just having bought Koigu from you, I am using Harlot’s rule that buying sock yarn doesn’t really count as buying yarn. As long as I actually plan to use it for socks. Something like that.

I made this shawl a couple years ago (I think I have a photo of it in my fo photo gallery on my blog). I made mine out of koigu and Gems Merino and it ended up just great.

The pattern took me a good 50 rows to get the hang of it, but once I got into the swing, it was really fun.

I never swatched for mine and it ended up a bit smaller than I would have liked - I still wear it often. Have fun!

I am so glad we corrupted you. =) Beware: I have heard from many knitters of this shawl that ya can’t knit just one. (And you know where this can lead, don’t you — a shawl and all . . . those little holes called —- lace!)
