World Wide Knit In Public Day!

Get your group together and get your knit on!

June 10th is World Wide Knit In Public Day!

WWKIPD

Erin and I are getting our groups together to meet up for this event! Click the picture for more details. If you don’t live near us just go and set up a group of your own.  Should be a fun day.

Call Out To Anyone….

Who has purchased yarn from me or has any yarn I’ve dyed. I’ve set up a Flickr group to show pictures of knitty goodness with my yarn. Could you please go and add some pictures if you’ve knit anything up at all with my yarn? I would love to see it even if you only have a little bit done. For example check out Melissa’s progress on some socks with Tarzhay! Scroll down to the bottom of the post. Don’t those rock!? Or this leetle sock that Kate’s plugging away on with some Hedgehog I sent her to test for me.

If you don’t have a Flickr account it’s super easy to set one up and upload pictures to it. I like it better than any other picture hosting website. Then all you do is click on the button that says send to group and you send pictures to my group and everyone can see the cool knitted swag! Easy peasy. Thank you in advance for helping me do this.

I’m A Bad-Ass (Or I Like To Think I Am)

Did you know that? I can’t believe everything I accomplished so far today. I started off with a run at 6:45am. Yeah, that’s right. If I want to exercise with the kids home I need to go that early before T. leaves for work. I came home and worked on my yarn. We then went to the water filtration place where I picked up 4-40lb bags of potassium. We ran a few other errands, (one of which included mailing out all of my sold yarn plus my DYE-O-RAMA & Project Spectrum Swap yarn) and then went to Lowe’s where I picked up our new screen door to replace the one we have that got ruined somehow. I forgot to get a cart so I was walking through the store carrying a 48″x81″ door by myself.

When I got home I unloaded the 160lbs of potassium and re-filled the filtration tank, reset it and felt better that it was working again. I got out the screen door from the mini-van and brought it to the back. I would have installed it but I had to take Supergirl to gymnastics. I actually got some knitting done there. Shocking but true.

While Supergirl napped I dyed a custom skein of yarn and then just did a totally scary thing. I changed out the reverse osmosis filters. I had to turn off the water supply to it, (two things) unscrew these filters, get them back in, turn it all back on. And I did it! I hate having to ask my husband to do anything that I can figure out for myself. So yeah. I’m feeling pretty bad-ass about all of the house chores I got done today. And I did some minor plumbing to boot! Screw paying some dude $75.00 to come out here and do it for me. Remember this picture? Don’t mess with me man!

I have one hour until he gets home and maybe I can get the new screen door in too. Then I’m off to Stitch ‘n’ Bitch. And hey, there’s one skein of yarn left and it’s so pretty! Go buy it. Then I’ll dye more.

Shop Update

These are up at Etsy. (Click to see bigger)

See my new Van Gogh (Sunflowers)? Isn’t he cool?

But Van Gogh and Bluetini sold right away! Dang y’all are fast!

I’m a Big Fat Liar.

I dyed a bunch of orders yesterday and was also finally able to dye a skein for Emy because her Twizzle Fo’ Shizzle got lost in the mail. Can you believe that? Her yarn just vanished. Do you think the mailman stole it? I told her I’d re-dye her something and she asked for something in between Raspberry Parfait and Million Dollar Baby. I e-mailed her yesterday saying it would be a one of a kind colorway only for her. But damn. It’s too pretty not to do again! Sorry Emy. I’m a liar. I even want one of these for myself. I’m done telling y’all the colors in my colorways because it seems like some people out there are dyeing some yarns way too close to my colorways. Whose idea was it to do this whole DYE-O-RAMA thing anyway? Grumble grumble. But here’s a picture. It’s beautiful. This one is Emy’s. I might just do a few of these today with some Bluetini’s so head’s up. Tommy likey! Tommy want wingy!

Emy

Here is Illini all skeined up and ready to go. I’m not usually an orange person but this is actually really freaking cool. I can’t wait to see those stripes!

Illini

OKay. Time to motivate. T. is at work today and I’m home with the kids. The JCC opens up at 10:00 so I think we’ll just go swim. Have a great Memorial Day.

Fun!

I got a custom order to do a self-striping colorway for Julie so she could make some Illini socks for her sister. Shoot. I hope her sister doesn’t read knitting blogs. I guess they are huge University of Illionois fans and she wants to make some Jaywalkers in their school colors. This was the link she sent me. It’s my first time doing one of these school colors things and it was fun! Here is what I got.

Illini

Pretty much right on spot if I do say so myself. She wanted the orange to be the dominant color then blue then white. I can’t wait to see her knit this up! Who else wants school colors? Bring it! Oh wait….. are you doing the stash-along? ;)

Maybe You Don’t Want To Read This?

Let me preface this post by saying I’m tired and cranky. Tonight you will get to see the other side of me. Welcome to Snarky Scout! Earlier today I saw that a new Summer Stash-Along has started. Now, even before I started selling my yarn I would never have joined one of these. Maybe it’s because I don’t have a huge stash but I just want to be able to buy yarn if I want to! Yah know? I just don’t really get it. Maybe I have no self control? Especially now that I’m selling my yarn I really don’t like those stash-alongs. How am I going to feed my family? Okay it’s not really like that but I guess it just directly affects me (and all of the other indie peeps) now when a bunch of people decide for three months not to buy yarn. I’m not mad at anyone in particular but I just thought I’d create my own along.

anti

It probably should say the anti-stash-along-along. Feel free to save the button to your server and show support to the anti-stash-alongers. Sing it loud! Sing it PROUD! I WANNA BUY YARN WHENEVER I FEEL LIKE IT! I DON’T CARE HOW BIG MY STASH IS! YARN IS LOVE PEOPLE! Doesn’t that feel good?

OKay, I’ll stop being obnoxious. My kids just went to bed and I think I’m going right now too. It’s all good. I still love you even if you aren’t going to buy yarn from me. I guess…..oops. That was still obnoxious. Done. Peace out.

Oh! WAIT! Good point Kat makes. If you are joining a stash-along to save money to then buy my yarn? That’s allowed. I’ll see you back here the day after Labor Day.

I Love Mail

Look at the pretties I received in the mail yesterday!

pretty

I signed up forthe Project Spectrum Yarn Swap and my pal was/is Jen from Cast On, Cast Off. She dyed me this beautiful 70% merino/30% angora. I can’t wait to knit with it. She called it “Scout’s Green” as she made sure to put purple in it! Thank you Jen! And I love the stitch markers too. I’m going to get yours done tomorrow. I promise!

If you’re looking for a fun swap go check it out!

How About a New Drink?

Can I serve you a Bluetini? Straight up or on the rocks?

bluetini

I’m having a hard time getting the colors just right in a picture. There are 3 shades of blue with a little bit of turquoise. It’s so pretty I keep staring at it. I’m really proud of this one. Here are a few other pictures to see it in a different light.

Almost two weeks ago Lucia and I talked about a possible Bluetini as a custom order for her. I’ve been thinking about it since then and finally was able to make it work today. (Of course now she’s gone and bought yarn and dye to do her own yarn….thpppt) That’s how my brain works with this. I really spend quite a bit of time working out the colorways in my head until it feels right and then I go for it. I’m kind of a perfectionist if you haven’t noticed.

Just in time for Project Spectrum-June huh? I dyed 3 of them and put them up at Etsy if you’re thirsty. I would be more than happy to do more of these too so just let me know if they sell out. I just Paypal you an invoice and voila, I get it out within a day or two. Usually you have your choice between superwash/nylon or 100% superwash merino. All of this talk of martinis has me thirsty……

Are You Nosy?

I am! Some of you may remember the meme I started last fall where you were supposed to show you knitting/crochet spot. Tons of people did it. If you didn’t? Go do it and let me know. It’s really fun to peek into other people’s houses. So consider yourself tagged if you never did it.

I’m tired. I still have this cold I’ve had for the past week and after going non-stop all morning to get all of my sales out in the mail I decided to park my ass in front of the TV and knit while Supergirl naps. So for those who never saw my spot I decided to post some pictures of it. You know you want to see it right? Plus it’s clean so it’s a perfect time for pictures. Click them to see them better.

And now I must knit. This concludes Scout’s random post of the day. Now go show me your spot. Dave? Get your mind out of the gutter. Not THAT spot. If you did the meme already? Leave me a link in the comments so I can see it again. Ready? Go!
