Let me preface this post by saying I’m tired and cranky. Tonight you will get to see the other side of me. Welcome to Snarky Scout! Earlier today I saw that a new Summer Stash-Along has started. Now, even before I started selling my yarn I would never have joined one of these. Maybe it’s because I don’t have a huge stash but I just want to be able to buy yarn if I want to! Yah know? I just don’t really get it. Maybe I have no self control? Especially now that I’m selling my yarn I really don’t like those stash-alongs. How am I going to feed my family? Okay it’s not really like that but I guess it just directly affects me (and all of the other indie peeps) now when a bunch of people decide for three months not to buy yarn. I’m not mad at anyone in particular but I just thought I’d create my own along.

It probably should say the anti-stash-along-along. Feel free to save the button to your server and show support to the anti-stash-alongers. Sing it loud! Sing it PROUD! I WANNA BUY YARN WHENEVER I FEEL LIKE IT! I DON’T CARE HOW BIG MY STASH IS! YARN IS LOVE PEOPLE! Doesn’t that feel good? ![]()
OKay, I’ll stop being obnoxious. My kids just went to bed and I think I’m going right now too. It’s all good. I still love you even if you aren’t going to buy yarn from me. I guess…..oops. That was still obnoxious. Done. Peace out.
Oh! WAIT! Good point Kat makes. If you are joining a stash-along to save money to then buy my yarn? That’s allowed. I’ll see you back here the day after Labor Day.

go on with yer bad self.
Don’t take it personally, I’m trying to make room to buy your yarn. SABLE status in a 430 sq ft condo is not a good thing.
Dude - YOU’RE the reason I decided to join! I can’t possible explain away any more sock yarn purchases until I knit up some of what I have here - the house is too small to hide it all, and hubby’s getting cranky - he saw me eyeing the Zutano and gave me the evil eye…. (besides, one of my 2 “exceptions” is gonna be your yarn!!)
I’m in the club! I’m an anti-stash knitter! If I have something long enough and don’t use it, I usually give it away. I’m not crazy with the stash like that.
Hey, you dye me some teal-tini and I’ll pretend I never heard of any old stash-along!
I’m with you Scout — I was just thinking up a post along these lines while grocery shopping today… I’m not hurting anyone, I’m not spending money I don’t have on yarn, I just love yarn and as Jen said above…If I fall out of love with something, I give it away to a good home… No Stash Alongs for me… and no guilt about it either!
oh boy… pandora’s box….. I think that SOCK yarn (as explained by the yarn harlot
is the exception to the stash busting stuff)
Then…if it is anything like my diets…. I always binge much worse after I go on the diets.
Ohhhh so we should have TONS of yarn ready the day after Labor Day then huh?
Hopefully people know me well enough by now to know I’m just a wise-ass. And tonight I’m a cranky wise-ass! HA!!!
I’ll join in the anti-stash. I had a little diatribe today about stash enhancing, and why I love to do it and am not going to be ashamed about it!!
Heh, I so flopped on the Stashalong - like Mama-E mentions, it was like an evil diet and it led to binge buying!
Hey don’t worry- I buy more yarn in the summer than any other time of year (as soon as school gets out I can actually make it to the store while it’s open!!)
Three months without buying yarn..well, maybe they just
don’t love yarn enough. Don’t worry most of them will drop out.
Summer is Fiber Festival time so there is NO WAY you’d see me
joining a DIET of any sort.
I guess you don’t want to hear that some really crazy people (like me) are stashalonging for 9 months instead of 33! I do love yarn, but I have addiction problems, and well, I like to eat and have a place to live too.
Everyone raise your needles is defiance….
I don’t keep a stash, I like to purchase as I knit. I used to own a quilt store and learned that no matter how big your stash, you always need what is new so why spend all that money on something that you will have to replace.
A non-stasher
I stash like a maniac - I’ve been knitting so long, I think it’s inevitable. Creative people are
forever thinking up new projects, inspired by the creativity of other people (read as: spinners,
dyers and the Indie designers) and just changing styles, how can you not stash, at least a little? I just de-stashed
some yarn from the 80’s! If I all out of love with it - I give it away - so it’s all good. I would
never do this - I believe in the rebound diet principle - and I’m already doing that so…
I’m in…sixteen skeins of Regia later…try explainin’ that one to a cranky man!
I say I work damn hard delivering babies and deserve to buy all the yarn I want! So THERE
you anti-stash fascists!
I’m with you! Why should I deny myself the joys of stash enhancement?
I got my orchids the other day, btw…stunning! Even better than the photo! Thanks so much!
Really, isn’t the comment “I’m not buying anymore yarn for ……weeks” one of the many state-
ments that we all make, then lie about? Don’t tell me that one of these stashbusters will
pass up a 50% off sale at the LYS. I don’t believe it for one second.
Way to go Scout!! I’m in with ya on this anti-stash along. As you can see from my blog site, if I see a good sale on yarn I buy it! In fact, yesterday I bought 7 more skeins of Lion Brand Suede yarn. Michaels had it on clearance and today I am headed to one of my favorite LYS to see what they have in store for my stash. LOL Let the shopping begin!!!!
hahahaha!!!
I’m not so good with the fad diets - no stash-along for me ;o)
However, no yarn buying either. I’ve officially run out of room AND found another fiber obsession. Yes, you are going to kill me and no, I haven’t bought a wheel. Yet.
