Sundae Swirl, & Good & Plenty!
I dyed 3 new Zutanos yesterday and they went lightening fast. A few never even made it to the shop. I have a few more to dye today too. I guess y’all really did like that one! Thanks again for all of your support!

The shop is updated. Here’s a pretty new one called Fraises de Bois.
And I know quite a few people who need this. I love Shelterrific and I love this new mug from Target.

Isn’t that totally hot? If you buy one of these and are never late for work again you can thank me okay?
Yes I still knit! I haven’t done a ton of it, but I’m still chugging away on the Shadow Shawl and and I’m still totally digging it. See? So leave me alone now! ![]()
Here’s a picture of Superboy on his last day as a 1st grader. They have a half day tomorrow and I’m not sending him since not only did his teacher say he didn’t have to go, but he said they’d be watching a movie anyway. Uh. No thanks. He can do something way more productive at home with me. I could have him clean the toilets or mop the floors. You know? I can’t believe I have a 2nd grader. Crazy. And yes. He does have his ear pierced if you’re wondering. He’s cool like that yo! He’s had it for a while now.

Call out to my knitster friends! Especially any of my Cali friends? A good friend of mine is going to San Fransico this weekend and wants the scoop on all things knitty. Where are the good places to shop, knit, grab coffee AND knit? Anyone want to meet up with her? Leave me comments or e-mail me and I’ll hook you up with her. Thank you!
This is for my DYE-O-RAMA pal who loves autumn colors. She said she likes browns, oranges, yellows and greens. Rockstar - Kate helped me with the name of this colorway and it’s perfect. This is a Zutano avocado.

And here is my Zutano. I think my dye-pal will like it. Don’t you?

I don’t normally dye with these colors but I think they are really pretty together. Thanks Mona for letting me play with them. Would this be something you would like to see in the Etsy shop?
These pretties are up at the shop now. I had a productive day
Here’s a new colorway called Zen.
(I’m taking the liberty to shorten the full name!)

Margene was one of the first people I read when I stumbled upon the whole Knitty Blog-Wold. I fell in love with her new blog look and as soon as I started dyeing I told her I would eventually make her a colorway. Well today was the day. There are about 4 shades of purple and lilac with bits of grey and deep red. It really looks a lot like her blog which makes me happy. She also sent me some birthday love and I’m happy to return the favor. Therefore, one skein goes to her and one skein goes up in Etsy in a bit with a few other favorites so check back in a bit.
would you please sit for a few minutes and knit up a square for Justin? Cynthia needs them immediately. I used my leftover Sockapaloooza yarn to make mine. It’s just a garter square but I thought the yarn was pretty enough to keep it simple like that. Nothing makes me sadder than sick children. If you have the time, please do it. Okay? Thanks.

Now they’ve only asked me 100 times to dye again. I guess we need more colors. And I wasn’t kidding about the martini washcloth. See the stem of the glass?

I love knitting with Supergirl’s yarn. I think it’s really pretty. And she’ll smell like Kool Aid as it washes off all over her body! Bonus!
I finally caved and let Supergirl dye some yarn. She asks every day if she can help me and there’s no way I’ll let her anywhere near the dyes I’m using. This morning I was in Hobby Lobby looking for a frame and had a 40% off coupon. The frame didn’t pan out but a pound of Sugar’n Cream did. I’m going to make washcloths for the kids out of their own hand painted yarn. I think we’ll also do this as gifties this year. We’ll use something that will hold the dyes more permanently for the gifts. I think their grandparents would dig that.
She had the best time and the yarn turned out super pretty! I think she’s a natural. Click this picture to see the slideshow. It’s pretty damn cute if I do say so myself.
I think it’s pretty cool that she turned this into this:

She hasn’t seen it yet because it’s been drying while she naps. She’s going to flip out over how cool it is. Now everything smells like Kool Aid. I might have to abandon my Shadow Shawl so I can make a few washcloths. Don’t you think she needs a martini wash cloth?
Also, you should know that Kool-Aid on cotton isn’t a very permanent dye. Thanks to Noelle and a bit of research, I’m going to try getting some Dye Fixative to see if it I can *seal* it more permanently. We shall see…..
Albuquerque Style. These are pictures of all the greenery around my house from this morning. (Sorry to all of you rainy people for showing you that blue stuff in the sky.) The only thing that isn’t mine is the palm yucca which lives across the street. I actually don’t like palm yuccas because they freak me out. I think they are one of the weirdest plants. I wish I had taken a picture of this one about a month ago when it had its alien-like white pods coming out of the top. However, they are kinda cool looking I guess. I’ll stick with the rosemary plants in my front yard though. Here is my May, Project Spectrum Collage.

Did you know that dogs like cilantro? Or is that just New Mexico dogs? I planted some last weekend and naughty Chulo ate the whole friggin’ thing! He went nuts for it. Dang dog. Andyone else have a cilantro-eating dog? See? Look at him. He’s laughing at me.

This was a custom order I did today and it came out exactly like I imagined. Rosalie is a customer at the shop and yesterday she saw my yarns and asked if I would dye her some yarn for a Shadow Shawl. She wanted something to go with a dark denim colored Silky Wool that she could wear with jeans. She basically told me all of the colors of the shirts she wears and told me to just run with it. (dark green, purples, blues, reds) I used about six different colors for this and there are 540 yards of 100% superwash Merino in the skein. Of course I need to name it after her. Yummy huh? Click to see up close.
Here is a better picture of the colors in it.
