Scout's Knitted Swag

Don’t Be Sad

that there’s only one day left of Purple Project Spectrum. I happen to think that every single day is a purple day …… These girls all have homes but I put more up in the shop. These colors are pretty spot on too. How delicious is this colorway? Thanks again for coming up with it Chris.

An Orchids and a Storm Surge are also for sale if you want them. I don’t know when I’ll do a big update again as I’m keeping super busy with custom orders. As always if you see something you want just let me know.

Here is my Saturday Sky picture. It was taken last night from my back porch. We had some friends over for dinner and sat and watched the pretty sunset while the kids watched a movie. Supergirl came running out and yelled, “Look at the crescent moon!!” I thought you’d all like to see.

I’m going to share two pictures because this one was taken in the morning when the Sandia Mountainds were hiding under the clouds. It’s pretty rare to wake up in the morning to clouds and these particular clouds were so cool to watch.

Harlot Part II

We get to the event after getting Stephanie her cup of coffee. Even that was comical. I thought I knew where a place was on the way and as I turn in I point to this strip mall and said, “I think there’s a cafe right there.” She replied, “In a comic book shop!?” Which of course made me question myself but we still drove over to it. And yes my friends, a comic book cafe shop. Maybe she’ll go into the details of the coffee transaction on her blog but it can easily be summed up by the her being introduced to the New Mexico phenomenon known as “Land of Mañana.” If you don’t know about this, read about it and be prepared just in case you ever visit Abq.

We finally got to the JCC and I was a bit stressed out about the weather keeping some people from coming. It’s a good thing knitters are hardcore. We probably didn’t have all 150 people there but well over 110/120 made it. I guess I-25 was closed due to flooding so some people just couldn’t make it. We all had a great time listening to her talk. She really is hysterical. At the book signing all of the Abq. knitbloggers got to say hey and get their pictures with her. Here are a few.

I had to add this one just sent to me because it made me laugh. Stephanie asked if I’d help collect donations for Tricoteuses Sans Frontières. I roughed up the crowd and got her a good amount of money to bring back. Since I know a lot of you aren’t going to see her in person please go and make a donation. Okay? Ya hear?

All of the pictures are here if you want to see a few other ones. After the book signing Stephanie very graciously agreed to let some of the Albuquerque Stitch ‘n’ Bitch girls take her out for a good beer. GOOD beer. We’re talking like 8% alcohol content, microbrew beer served in pints. We also got some really yummy green chile fondue. Not a bad way to end a night. Let’s hope the next book brings her back here soon so maybe I can find her some real lavender…..

Also? If you would like to custom order Harlot’s Mums please just leave a comment and I can simply send you a Paypal invoice and dye it for you. I had a few people ask me about getting it so I’ll do it that way for now.

What Happens in Albuquerque…..

stays in Albuquerque. That’s what Stephanie wrote in my book after I dropped her off after 11:00pm last night. Sorry again Stephanie that it was so late.

S & S

The event was great and I was even luckier because she took me up on my offer to drive her around. When I picked her up I was able to giver her the new colorway I designed for her. She loved it. This is called Harlot’s Mums. When I asked her what her favorite colors were she said autumn colors. I immediately thought of the fall flowers I love the most. I’m not normally into these colors but I really love how they look together. I will be adding it to the shop.

We drove to Village Wools in the pouring rain, (can you believe that?) where she cracked me up with all of her questions. It was like driving around with Supergirl. It kind of went like this:

“What’s that!?”

“Oh, that’s an arroyo.”

“What’s that!? Is that Lavender?”
“Yep!” (Whoops…..It’s Russian Sage! DOH! Sorry Stephanie!)

“Oh we have to get a picture of the sock with some of that!”

We hit the shop and she bought some pretty Fiesta and a few other things and we were off in search of Abq props for the sock. She got some good ones. She is doing her Vanna White in this one. And I promise you that her hair was perfect looking when she got off of the elevator at the hotel. The wind/rain/humidity gave her a whole new look which she yelled at us later about for not telling her. When first meeting someone I don’t usually give them hair advice!

We then left the shop and found some local flora. I feel very special to have some behind the scene pictures of just exactly how she gets her sock pictures…..

It was raining so hard but she had to get the sock in a palm yucca

And then she braved this crazy cactus plant.

I need to get going so I’m going to post the rest of this later!

Yarn Still Left & New Colorway

I can finally tell you about a pretty new colorway designed by Chris of Stumbling Over Chaos which is perfectly named - Stormy Chaos.  She has a great picture of it here. I added some more of it to the shop so go grab it before it disappears!

Still swag left!

A new colorway is coming soon in honor of the Harlot coming this week!

Beware Of Dog

There really is a little sign that says that at our front gate. Okay, stop laughing. Little do people know that it’s true. The other day T. came home from work and walked in the door with a ripped open box, and a pretty purple bag with gummy bears stuck to it. It seems that our Sherlock Holmes sniffed out the food in my KSKS box and took it upon himself to open it for me. Damn dog. See, the mail people just throw our boxes over the gate for us. Fun for Gus! Thankfully, everything was okay minus the bag of gummy bears. I think I must have received the best kit out of anyone. Rae from Extravayarnza was my pal and man did she spoil me. The bag she made me is amazing. I also got hand-dyed yarn, a pattern written by her and many, many purple goodies. I’m pretty sure she also made the buttons and the crochet hooks too!

bag

Such prettiness! Thank you again for everything. I love it all and can’t wait to show off my bag to everyone.

I only got a few pictures while down at Elephant Butte because I was off and on the jet ski most of the day. Here is the view from our friends’ camp.

And this picture below is what made this day the best day of my kids’ life. Behold, the Green Goblin. And yes, T. went out on that thing with his knee…..I don’t think I went fast enough for the kids. When they came back from this ride? They both announced, “We went FORTY miles an hour!!!!” Jaysum. Not what I like to hear.

There are a few more pictures here.

This is all I have right now. It was from my camera phone coming home up I-25. We had so much fun today and we’re all fried. More tomorrow.

What To Write About?

I don’t feel like I’ve really written at all this week. It’s been busy and there is not a single crochet or knit stitch to be seen in Chez Scout. What have I been up to? Well, I’ve done a few custom orders I can’t talk about or show you because they are super top seekrit. But a few of you will be receiving some pretty yarn in a few months. I am stocked with tons of yarn if any of you are wanting something. I just don’t have the time to do a big update. I have 4 different fibers and I can dye anything in my shop or custom dye a colorway of your choice. As always just let me know.

What else? My children won’t sleep and it’s making me seriously lose my mind. Today they were both up at 5:51am. Nothing makes me cranky like seeing my children up at that time. They were sent back to their rooms until 6:30 but once I’m up I’m up. I think I need child restraints. Would that be bad of me? And it does not matter if they stay up later so don’t even offer that one up. They are genetically built just like my father, his father and his father’s father. It’s a curse I swear! Speaking of kids have y’all seen this website about women sharing their pre/post baby bodies? Because those who have had kids know the toll it takes on our poor bodies. This site makes you at least realize you aren’t alone. When my kids ask me about why my stomach has a few faint stretch marks I happily offer up to them, “It’s YOUR FAULT! YOU ruined my body!” I guess I should start saving up for their therapy?

In some exciting news I might be getting a new/used car. My mini-van is guzzling too much gas and it’s getting up there with miles. (for what makes me comfortable) I want something smaller and more fuel efficient. I’m thinking of getting a Hummer. Ha. Not. We’re going to probably get a Ford Freestyle. We drove one last night and we really like it. We have no carpayments right now so It’s a big decision to add that into the financial scheme of things.

And finally, we’re going to the lake tomorrow with a group of friends. Elephant Butte is about 2 hours south of here and these friends have boats, jet skis and are renting RV’s. I’m hoping to get some knitting done. Can you knit and ride a jet ski at the same time?

I’ll leave you with a picture of the first blooms from my trumpet vines.

Have a great weekend everyone!

A Puppy Purse?

I’m having SUCH a hard time deciding which one we should all buy for Norma’s baby Vincent. Click each one for details.

Mardi Woof Puppy Purse

Yummy Yeti Puppy Purse

or the Ruffington Steele Puppy Purse

purse

I know she just bought him this but come on. Aren’t these purses SO much cooler??? I really think he’d perk right up and know he was totally rocking if he had one. I’m leaning towards the Yummy Yeti. I could see him in that one. What do you think?

Got My Hair Did

This is the second time I’m donating my hair to Locks Of Love. If you have never done it I highly recommend doing it. Please click the link to read about it. I love this organization. I’ve been growing my hair out to donate it for about a year. I thought I could make it until January but it’s driving me nuts so I just went for it. The last time I did it was about three years ago.

It’s not a great picture as Superboy took it but you get the picture. It’s all shattered/layered and just barely long enough to put up in a ponytail. I really love it and so does everyone in my family. The kids keep telling me how much they love it. I don’t care that it’s shorter than I’d like it because It’s pretty easy to forget about something silly like how long your hair is when you know why it’s gone. Yah know?

Supergirl got her hair did today too.
