I don’t feel like I’ve really written at all this week. It’s been busy and there is not a single crochet or knit stitch to be seen in Chez Scout. What have I been up to? Well, I’ve done a few custom orders I can’t talk about or show you because they are super top seekrit. But a few of you will be receiving some pretty yarn in a few months. I am stocked with tons of yarn if any of you are wanting something. I just don’t have the time to do a big update. I have 4 different fibers and I can dye anything in my shop or custom dye a colorway of your choice. As always just let me know.
What else? My children won’t sleep and it’s making me seriously lose my mind. Today they were both up at 5:51am. Nothing makes me cranky like seeing my children up at that time. They were sent back to their rooms until 6:30 but once I’m up I’m up. I think I need child restraints. Would that be bad of me? And it does not matter if they stay up later so don’t even offer that one up. They are genetically built just like my father, his father and his father’s father. It’s a curse I swear! Speaking of kids have y’all seen this website about women sharing their pre/post baby bodies? Because those who have had kids know the toll it takes on our poor bodies. This site makes you at least realize you aren’t alone. When my kids ask me about why my stomach has a few faint stretch marks I happily offer up to them, “It’s YOUR FAULT! YOU ruined my body!” I guess I should start saving up for their therapy?
In some exciting news I might be getting a new/used car. My mini-van is guzzling too much gas and it’s getting up there with miles. (for what makes me comfortable) I want something smaller and more fuel efficient. I’m thinking of getting a Hummer. Ha. Not. We’re going to probably get a Ford Freestyle. We drove one last night and we really like it. We have no carpayments right now so It’s a big decision to add that into the financial scheme of things.
And finally, we’re going to the lake tomorrow with a group of friends. Elephant Butte is about 2 hours south of here and these friends have boats, jet skis and are renting RV’s. I’m hoping to get some knitting done. Can you knit and ride a jet ski at the same time?
I’ll leave you with a picture of the first blooms from my trumpet vines.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Elephant Butte Lake! We almost went there. My brother has his and his family go there almost every
weekend for boating and camping. They leave their large camper there all year long. I heard it’s really
nice. Have fun!
Sure, you can knit and ride a jetski. Just make sure you’re knitting with cotton.
I’ve the same problem with my two boys. No matter how late I put them to bed they
still get up 5:30 or 6 in the morning! My daughter on the other hand she could sleep
till noon. Have a great weekend!
Heh, make sure you’re using a yarn that won’t bleed or shrink or felt and defnitely use metal or plastic needles! Have fun!
Um, T’s not going to jetski, is he??
Shut UP! I spent a summer living at Elephant Butte. I love all the spring houses in T or C.
Have a great weekend! I just lost a half an hour on that belly site.
Before you buy the Freestyle go look at the Mazda5. Slightly smaller, similar gas milage (I’m getting a consistent 22-23 in the city with the manual), much more fun to drive and cheaper, we got ours for under $19,000 out the door with taxes and everything.
You might think it’s too small though if you are used to the mini-van. We’re finding it perfect.
Ha, Al is doing a map unit at school right now and she was just telling me last night about how they found Elephant Butte on the map (but they called it Elephant Butt) - she’ll die when I tell her I know someone who is going there. Have a fun weekend!
Have fun at Elephant Butte, if anyone can knit and jet ski at the same time, it has to be you. Hey
I know you want a smaller more efficient car, but I can just see you in a Hummer. The flowers are beautiful.
My kids get up early on the only mornings I can sleep in…..on camp/week days, I am hauling them out of bed.
I hear your pain.
Have fun at the lake!
Could you lock them in their rooms at night? Yes, I’m kidding… mostly.
Lovely flowers.
Enjoy your weekend!
As you pass the Escondida exit, give me a wave! Have fun, don’t forget the sunscreen and hat for the knitting!
I don’t know your set up, but I was a kid that was up as soon as it was light out (must have been the farm in me) so mom just mandated that we stay in our rooms and do quiet activities until 7am. I was a big reader so that worked pretty well as I always had a big stack of books in my room. It seems they are old enough to read a clock and to respect something like that so perhaps it is worth a try?
Have a wonderful weekend!
Are you getting the free gas until 2007 deal? That would rock.
Must hold out for my Highlander Hybrid!!
Well, my youngest is a lot younger than your two, so she’s gated into her room. My older boy just knows to play in his own room until at least 6:30 or mom won’t be happy. Stopck them up with games in their rooms? Or a toy they can play with if they get up early.
Ta-da, ta-da-ta-da, ta-DAH! (If you can flourish your trumpets, so can I. Sorry about the sleeping thing. Many a mom who can’t get her kid out of bed for school would envy you, assuming they stay that way. I would feel (and have felt) like chaining them up too, though.
Have fun. If the GO-GO’S can sing and water ski I’m sure you
can knit!
No Hummer?!? Bummer.
We told our kids that they couldn’t get out of bed (except to go potty then come back) until the clock says 7:00.
(We bought digital clocks for their rooms.)
20/27 mpg wouldn’t be enough for me.
But maybe it’s good compared to your minivan.
Of course, I drive a 14 y.o. Mitsubishi with 170,000 miles on it. It still gets about 25 mpg in town, and I do a lot of stop-and-go driving.
heh. You said…butt ;o)
