We get to the event after getting Stephanie her cup of coffee. Even that was comical. I thought I knew where a place was on the way and as I turn in I point to this strip mall and said, “I think there’s a cafe right there.” She replied, “In a comic book shop!?” Which of course made me question myself but we still drove over to it. And yes my friends, a comic book cafe shop. Maybe she’ll go into the details of the coffee transaction on her blog but it can easily be summed up by the her being introduced to the New Mexico phenomenon known as “Land of Mañana.” If you don’t know about this, read about it and be prepared just in case you ever visit Abq.
We finally got to the JCC and I was a bit stressed out about the weather keeping some people from coming. It’s a good thing knitters are hardcore. We probably didn’t have all 150 people there but well over 110/120 made it. I guess I-25 was closed due to flooding so some people just couldn’t make it. We all had a great time listening to her talk. She really is hysterical. At the book signing all of the Abq. knitbloggers got to say hey and get their pictures with her. Here are a few.

Adam representing the men! Whoo hoo!

A few Village Wools grrls.

And my favorite picture is Noelle’s Barry with Stephanie’s sock.

I had to add this one just sent to me because it made me laugh. Stephanie asked if I’d help collect donations for Tricoteuses Sans Frontières. I roughed up the crowd and got her a good amount of money to bring back. Since I know a lot of you aren’t going to see her in person please go and make a donation. Okay? Ya hear?

All of the pictures are here if you want to see a few other ones. After the book signing Stephanie very graciously agreed to let some of the Albuquerque Stitch ‘n’ Bitch girls take her out for a good beer. GOOD beer. We’re talking like 8% alcohol content, microbrew beer served in pints. We also got some really yummy green chile fondue. Not a bad way to end a night. Let’s hope the next book brings her back here soon so maybe I can find her some real lavender…..
Also? If you would like to custom order Harlot’s Mums please just leave a comment and I can simply send you a Paypal invoice and dye it for you. I had a few people ask me about getting it so I’ll do it that way for now.

Yes, ma’am, I’d like a skein of Mums, in worsted weight please.
Looks like you had a great time. I hope Steph will be doing some appearances at home
and even better in my city! I’d love to buy a skein in sock/fingering weight ( these
aren’t usually my favourite colours but you’ve managed to make them look very pretty!)
Totally jealous.
Just popped over from Steph’s blog where I saw your comment hoping she’d been able to wake up in time to continue her travels as scheduled. Now I know why. I’d say you were a bad influence ‘cept I know first hand she doesn’t need one.

oooooh, I can’t believe that Harlot and I have been searching for the egg-zact-same colorway for the Peacock Feathers Shawl and she scored it! It pays to be a celebrity (and clearly it pays to read a celebrity’s blog!). Sign me up for Harlot’s Mums too!!! The plums, the teals, the olives - *sigh* - you are a creative genius.
