I Feel Old

Let’s start with this. Do you know who this is?

who

We are watching Cheaper by the Dozen when T. yells, “No way! What’s his name!?” Which of course leads to a search over on imdb.com. I wish I hadn’t.

Do you have any idea how old he is? He turned fifty this year. FIFTY!? There is no way. Then I looked at how long ago Ferris Bueller’s Day off was made? TWENTY years ago? Whaaaaa? I refuse to believe that. I mean look. See how young he looks?

bueller

I seriously feel old.

Bueller? Bueller? Anyone??? Bueller?

(My 50+ year old friends? Don’t be offended.

It’s just really strange for me to think of him older than he is in this picture!)

I know that guy!!! He’s 50. OMG. He’s forever a high school senior in my mind. Then again, so is Matthew Broderick.
    Any progress on those colourways.

I heart that movie. It is one of the definitive moments of our generation, no?

What’s odder to think of - that’s it’s been 20 years, or that he was thirty playing a high-school student?

Alan Ruck, of course. I’m with Twisted Knitster - he was *30* and playing a HS student???

At least Matthew Broderick hasn’t started to visably age yet. We have that.

I know! All those movies we loved as teenagers are all coming up on 20 or 25 years old, it seems. I’m not sure how as it seems like it was yesterday…

I just watched a concert doco on Duran Duran from their 1984 tour. I was all happy to see the boys again. Then I did the math on how long again that was.

I think I need to lay down for a while.

Well, he was older (and young looking) when he made FBDO. He was SO perfect as Cameron it’s hard to believe he didn’t just stay that way.

    20 years. Wow.

I felt old yesterday when I was with a bunch of 19-20 year olds and one of them said ‘oh i feel so old’ - gah!

Ferris Bueller is one of my all time favs. And I recognized the picture of, err, Cameron, right away.

I was so in love with this guy when Ferris Bueller came out. And it is really disturbing to be reminded that it was twenty years a

What Jillian said; I remember being surprised that Alan Ruck was so youthful looking for 28 back then…plus, he’s been on TV (Spin City) and in movies (Speed), so it’s not an utter shock. Shocking is Lindsay Lohan going from fresh-faced sweetie to hoochie mama.

But that means he was thirty and playing 18, sheesh! Great movie, though.

Holy cow. Just, wow. One, he turned out HOT, I always figured he was a bit too geeky for my taste in the movie (along with being somewhat snivelly) but he’s really aged well. For another…aw, man, TWENTY YEARS??? I mean, I was only 8 then, but gee, that’s just not helping me feel better about being 21+ and still single.

I think I need to go have a sit down. Maybe knit and nibble on a no-bake cookie.

I’ve been feeling old for a couple of years. My last year of teaching before I left to raise the kidlets, my students iinformed me that they were born in 1990. Holy crap!

When I was in high school, I would watch that movie whenever I was sick or upset or anything, and it would cheer me right up. Partially because I had a crush on him AND Matthew Broderick. Heh…

Hey–and this is scary–he’s age-appropriate for me! Is he
    single? Anyone? Anyone?

You can Google guys like him, who are so familiar you can’t
remember their names, using the search term “Hey, it’s that
guy!” Go on and do it–you know you want to! I’m not saying
Alan Ruck’s there. I’m just saying.

*throws herself onto the ground and begins a full on tamtrum* NO! NO! NO! I refuse to grow up.

It’s hard to believe that was 20 years ago. I’m not 50 but still.

Oh, he is still so marvelously cute, I think maybe more so! Broderick’s hairline is rather a mystery but after seeing him singing and dancing on Broadway, I think age might have to be redefined.
