I’m Such a Smart Mama

T. is working this weekend which means I’ll be home with the kids by myself. Want to see how smart I am? This is what they are doing at the moment. Do you know how nice it is to have two kids sitting quietly? This rarely happens.

T. and I are kind of old school and these are about as close as our kids will ever get to having video games in our house. We’re the mean parents. You know the ones who tell their kids, “You can go play X-box at your friend’s house!” (and eat their sugar cereal while you’re there too!) They rarely play them but I knew that this new Cars game would keep them busy if I needed a break over the weekend. Do you think it will keep them busy until January 4th? Sometimes you just need something like this. On the 7th night of Hanukkah, they were blessed with a new Gameboy game. Oh wait. T. is now playing it.

I think it’s time for a beer. I’m so bummed Survivor is done. What the heck do I watch on TV tonight? Supergirl is chanting “DINNER!! DINNER!!”. Let’s see if I can tear T. away from the game. Wow. Thrilling post. Sorry y’all. It’s all I got.

We do the same thing around here. When the hubby is working nights and the kids are just about to drive me ccrazy, I let them watch TV on the “big TV” (the one in the living room). There is just something about begin a ble to see it twice the size that they love. lol We all have our mom tools and know how to use them wisely.

I’m with ya on the video games. But my three year old is a genius on the computer! It’s AMAZING the things he can do on it. I let him play the games on nickjr.com and some of the pop cap games. Santa will be bringing him the Cars game for the computer on Christmas.

No doubt he will open that and then run to the bedroom and we will not see him for the rest of the day.

Ah, quiet… Unfortunately my youngest is too young for one of those. Did you read my post on knowing the winner of the latest Survivor? Yeah, I was really wierded out.

how are you getting a white christmas in NEW FREAKING MEXICO and it’s still like 50 degrees in jersey?

sometimes i am tempted with the idea of a gameboy, but i cannot give in for another 2 years or it will be a broken waste of money. we got skates this year. that will do.

Heck, my kids don’t even have a Gameboy. And Christmas presents this year aren’t exactly high tech, they’re getting roller skates
(they wanted Heelys, but I don’t want them skating down the hallways at school and skates were less expensive). And after looking at
Leaky’s post it seems that skates may be just the ticket this year. My mother buys the sugary cereals for my kids when we come to visit.
We were fed oatmeal with wheat germ while growing up She knows better, this is deliberate sabbotage. When they come back from her house the
woeful breakfast whining lasts for nigh on to a week. I figure these “hardships” will provide therapy fodder in future years. Hope you get lots of
    knitting done.

Funny thing, the man has a PS2 but the girlie never asks to play it. Of course all the games are for big boys only. She does have the small leap pad thing that seems game like. Our friends bought their children TV’s and game systems for their bedrooms for Christmas. M is getting 72 books. haha. I suppose I’m a mean parent too.

    Genius! :)

And FYI, you aren’t the only mean mom. No sugar, corn syrup or white anything in this house. She’ll thank me later and so will your kiddos.

Last night I thought about Survivor and almost watched the last show (DVR) again. Happy last day of Hanukkah to you and yours!

Dude I had no idea you watch Survivor - no one is allowed to speak at our house when it is on ;o)

I’m even meaner than you - we have all the cool toys, but they’re password protected *grin*
