I’m telling you, frogging those UFO’s got my ass in gear to knit. Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement and support. I’m glad to have gotten the ball rolling for some of you. Ha. Pretty punny. I finished the scarf on New Year’s Eve and realized I had way too much leftover Silk Garden to not do something with it. I found this great hat designed by mimoknits. I weighed what I had leftover and I had 76 grams which was just enough for the hat. I’m totally in love with both of these knitted items. What a great way to ring in the New Year. I’ve read on a number of blogs that what you do on New Year’s day is a sign for what’s to come for the rest of the year. That’s good news for me since I knit most of the day. Maybe this year I can actually pull it all together and maintain a good balance between work and knitting. We shall see. I’m pretty happy with how I’m doing so far.

I ended up going with almost 83″ on the scarf and you can see here how long it is on my after wrapping it almost two times around my neck. Click the pictures to see them up close. The hat has some really cool lacework in it. YES! Lacework. Shhhhh! Don’t tell Lauren I did some lace. I don’t think this really counts does it? Remember I’ve vowed to never knit lace?

That IS a great hat! Congrats on the jumpstart for the new year!
Very, very nice…the scarf and hat look great on you. ‘Look at all that snow’ she
says with envy.
So cute!
Nice hat! Glad you got your knitting mojo back, and I do agree, having 12,000 UFOs lying around doesn’t make anyone want to keep going. I’m more project oriented with my yarn purchases, it’s just my problem is that I buy the yarn way before I knit the project. But I can tell you what every single skein in my stash will turn into, so it works for me. I never start something unless I’m going to finish it.
And you’re going to love the Nike iPod kit. It’s so awesome! I’m going to have to join the runalong too, because I went skiing yesterday and I felt like a butterball turkey on skis. It’s a lot more fun to ski when you’re in decent shape so I’m going to have to make that my goal.
You going to SnB tonight? I’m on the fence.
Very cool hat.
Damn, girl, you look like a movie star! whoops, TV star, at least…the hat and scarf are great.
That’s a lot of snow…GREAT scarf and hat.
I’ve knit dozens of scarves and still don’t have one I like.
Oh, I like that hat! 1.5 skeins? That can’t be right….
ooooo…pretty! :o) (I do like it a lot - you did a great job!)
I just want to walk myself ugly. Cute hat and scarf-all you need
now are some mittens
The hat and scarf look great! I love the length of the scarf, just right!
WTG! Yay for you! Love the hat, off to get the pattern! Whew that’s a long scarf!

Cool hat! But it is so wrong that you guys have that much snow & we hardly need coats in Maryland!!
Doncha feel all liberated by ripping those knits? Good for you! Your hat and scarf are gorgeous - and perfect timing! You look so at home in all that snow.
Nice hat and scarf!! And thank you for the inspiration! I am signed on for the running ugly - when I went to the blog it says run, walk, bike - just move - that I can do!! AND I have a rockin Nike thingamajig for my little nano friend - it rocks! I am hoping to run the Susan B. Komen gig again this May - so this will be just what the doctor ordered! Thanks!!
Beautiful FOs!
You look gorgeous girl! Email me!
The hat looks great and you look great in it! Makes me wonder where mine is.
Well shit. I cleaned all day on New Years…what does that mean? Urrrr…
LOVE the scarf and hat! LOVE! LOVE LOVE LOVE the hat. Must knit.
Great combo - and all for you!
Holy Moly Scout! That is beautiful! I love it!!
Keep knitting girl, please don’t deprive us of such inpirational knits!
If it take alot of snow to make you sit down and knit then by Goly,
let it snow, let it snow.
100 miles! Wow! Good luck!
Ooo, I love the hat and scarf. That colorway is fabulous on you. And Hey! Lacework is lacework
Just like you, I also spent most of yesterday knitting. I’m seriously considering doing the 100 miles (swimming). I would love one of the Nike Plus trackers but I just can’t run (not yet that is). I’m actually giving my Nano (I have an iPod as well) to Phil’s cousin because he’s getting the Nike tracker and he is a runner. It’s my good deed for the year. He’s an artist and moonlights as an art teacher during the day. He deserves it.
You really got behind the whole ripping UFOs. I definitely don’t blame you. UFOs tend tow eigh me down too. Thanks for setting up Runagogo. I’m definitely signing up this. It’s time to move more. The hat does count as lace, hate to tell you. The hat and scarf set looks great.
The hat and scarf are great.
100miles by April? go girl go.
Love the hat and scarf!!
That hat and scarf look great! I signed up for the 100 mile-a-long — going to be fun!
What a nice and cozy set, perfect for those New England winters!
Now THAT’S a nice set! Notice how I’m avoiding the exercise?
I’m pretending I can’t see that scary part about “running some miles” because I just came by to say HAHAHA I finally d/l firefox and I can read your blog now! Oh and my hub is spending much of Jan and Feb in Albuquerque so my “Hi!” vibes are closer than ever.
Love the hat and scarf. Hey I joined Runagogo, I was reading your blog and saw the link,
it was just what I needed to kickstart my workout. Now if only I could knit and walk at
the same time.
The hat and scarf came out fantastic and you look so cute and cozy in the snow. All sgined up for thrunagogo. Love the concept but will need to check out the Nike iPod gizmo
Just a quick “Hi!” and a “Way to go on your first finished object of 2007. Mine is about to be those socks I started a long time ago. Holidays and other crap got in the way and my progress ground to a halt. Love all the new yarn and goodies. Yay Scout!
Hey Honey! That hat & scarf are awesome! I reallllly like the hat and your yarn choices are fabulous.
Oh - I had a question, also… does the hat feel snug? On the pattern it doesn’t look like it is a snug fit.
ooooh, pretty!
And the hat’s nice, too!
