Scout’s Indie Swag II - Finally!

Allergies are seriously kicking my butt so I hope I make sense in this post. I had about a two hour reprieve this morning when I hung out with Mona and ever since then I can’t stop sneezing. So the news a lot of you have been waiting to hear - Scout’s Indie Swag II is officially on. I’m finalizing the list of my Indie Partners but will share a few of them with you. The two designers on board for this round? Are you ready? Cookie & Shobhana. Do I even need to tell you who else is involved? I mean come on. How cool is that? I’m just glad I asked them both almost six months ago to be a part of this round otherwise I doubt I could have gotten them now! I mean, Cookie has a million of the coolest sock patterns in the world and Shobhana is currently working on her second book. I’m so excited for them to be a part of this. We will also see something from Designs by Romi (have you seen this or this?), Heal My Hands, Adam of Yarn Nerd and KnowKnits. I’m probably going to keep the other few a surprise but I promise, they are very cool. Many of my partners have already designed their colorways and dang are they gorgeous. Cookie’s is straight off of the runway!

The hardest part in deciding whether to do this second round was in figuring out how to make it fair for people to sign up. I am going to still keep the number to 35-40 people. I just can’t do more than that. Also, this time I will be sending the swag out every other month and not every month. This round was just way too hard for me to do. I want it to be fun and not such a stressful thing for me. I have literally had at least 100+ people over the last six months asking me about how to get in to this club. To make it fair I came up with this idea. Adam is currently writing a program for this sign up where everyone who wants to get in can sign up for either a 6, 3, or 1 month spot. I really felt like the prices were fair last time so I am keeping them exactly the same. The number of spots will be similar to last time, however I may open up 5 more spots. If you want to read the original description you can read about it here.

The memberships will be offered as follows which equals 35 full spots:

30 (6-month) subscription for $190

6 (3-month) subscription for $110

12 (1-month) subscription for $40 per month

If you want in, sign up for a spot. Once we close the sign-ups, the program will then randomly pick the people for the club. For current club members? If you want in again, Adam is making the program enter your name in two times so you have a better chance to get in this time. With such a small club, it’s honestly the only way I can think of to make it fair for everyone. I hope everyone can see how much time and thought I’ve put into this. I almost didn’t even do it again because I couldn’t think of how to make it work. After y’all crashed my shop the last time I knew something had to be done differently.

I know. You want to know when you can sign up. Next Friday, March 16th will be the date for the sign up. We will put it up at 6:00 MST. (8:00pm EST/5:00PST) I haven’t decided yet how long I will leave it up but will let you know before then. I don’t think I will leave it up for more than a few hours. Once the program is run and the club is chosen I will email the individuals with a Paypal invoice. And there you have it. The new Indie Swag Club will be selected. The first shipment will be mailed out in the last week of April.

I hope this makes sense? I’m really excited for Round II and I hope you all are too. Spread the word and let people know. Next Friday at 6:00 my time there will be a link here to the signup page. It’s on baby! And now I need to find another box of tissue. Anyone have a good remedy for me? Not even allergy medicine has made a difference this afternoon. I don’t think I’ve been this miserable since I can remember. **I just got an appointment with our NAET Dr. on Saturday morning before we leave for Taos. I see the light! **

OMG! I am so inn! Or might I say I want inn! I want inn! Last time I got in by a hair
I hope I am able to keep my spot for round II. Question, so if its 6 months at a bi-
monthly shipment, does that mean that round 2 would last a year?

I hope you feel better soon! Allergies are the worst! Absolutely no fun at all:(

I have no idea how you do even half the things you do, but to suffer from allergies and STILL be organizing round two of the Indie Swag just
blows me away. Hope you feel better soon.

I got in by a hair last time too….can’t wait to hopefully get in again!

I can’t vouch for acupuncture for allergies, but can for carpal tunnel….and it is just about as relaxing as a massage!

How do you feel about snorting salt water? I always do that when I have a cold. Cleans me out and dries me up. Being a non-allergy person, I don’t know if it’s helpful.

Neti pot if you want to get yoga and mix your own, or drug store pre-made salt water in the huffing aisle.

I have the worst allergies and have problems taking any antihistamines because of seriously dry eyes. I usually opt for the saline nasal spray and just grin and bear it. Feel better!

I won’t be able to sign up either as I’ll be in Austin with no computer access. Oh well. There’s always next time. Sniff. As to your allergies, I have to go along with the folks who are advocating accupuncture. After my ex started getting regular accupuncture treatments, he stopped taking pills and using his inhaler entirely. It has worked wornders for him.

Splitting hairs question: “current customers” = current swag club people, or current people who’ve bought stuff from you ever before?

“Snorting saltwater” sounds crappy. I prefer “sinus rinse.” I ordered one of these
    http://www.amazon.com/NeilMeds-Sinus-Rinse-Saline-Nasal/dp/B000FKGRWA/ref=sr_1_8/002-6794826-0828830?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1173378149&sr=8-8
about two weeks ago since my allergies are only an hour south of yours (ha ha). You’re a bit drippy for the first hour after you do it, but it helps so much. And it cleared up my perpetual sinus infection. It’s a little weird at first, but worth it once you get used to it.

Are the 12 1-month subscriptions all for the Same month?

  27. Posted March 8, 2007 at 1:52 pm | Permalink
    27

I want the 6-month slot!!! And why should we spread the word? The fewer people who know about it the better. Less competition.

And I will second acupuncture for allergies. Massage therapy also has helped mine. I have also been using homeopathic meds to help with my ragweed allergies. I am still pretty sensitive to ragweed but it is not as bad as it used to be.

It just about killed my to not sign up the last time, being the Yarn ‘Ho and Indie lover that I am, so I am definitely going to try for a spot this time :). A little OT, but pertaining to your last post, I just updated over at PSPRP, with a link to my ink.

I have pretty bad allergies myself. I take Quercetin, you can get it from the health food store. It’s minimizes the allergy symptoms. Depending on the concentration, you can 500 mg twice daily with food. There are no noticeable side effects and I’ve been taking it during allergy season for 3 years. I also use Flonase. I wish I had the time to take advantage of your swag club.
