Scout's Knitted Swag

Taos

Taos

Click to see the first batch of pictures I took. I’m beyond tired, due to allergies still kicking my arse, so no detailed post about Taos. I will tell you that I now hold in my possession some of the most amazing fiber I have EVER seen in my life. La Lana Wools. That’s all I have to say. It was overcast when I took those pictures so imagine all of that 100 times brighter. I called Pippi from the store and was just stumbling over my words in trying to explain to her what I was seeing. And if you haven’t read yet, go congratulate her. She can finally announce the details about the new book she’s writing. I’m so proud of her.

I might be laying a bit low over the next few days. I’m feeling a tad bit burned out. It’s probably just the lack of sleep but I’m feeling overwhelmed with the amount of work I need to churn out over the next few weeks on top of a number of other personal things going on. Maybe just a full night of sleep will rejuvenate me? I dunno. I hope so. I need my mojo back STAT. Have you seen it?

  2. pippi | March 11th, 2007 | 4:27 pm

First, I want to move into La Lana.
Second, it is going to make a great little story in the book.
    Third, I’m blushing..

Fourth, but most important, I hope you get your mojo back Sooner than STAT! (and if you find mine there, send it back to me; I’ll pay postage!)

    XXOO!

Go get some sleep. I always feel better after a long nights sleep, which unfortunately isn’t very often. :)
Bet you’ll find your mojo after you’ve gotten some good sleep.
    Hugs!

I have drooled over the La Lana website. My friend actually went there while skiing in Taos and she loved their wools. I will have to make a little trip from UT to Taos sometime. Hope your allergies are getting better.

  7. jackie | March 12th, 2007 | 3:19 am

    Wow! Quite the eye candy.

And may the sleep fairies visit us both!

  8. Paula | March 12th, 2007 | 6:25 am

Wow, I thought that was an azalea in bloom in that center shot!

I was in Taos before I started knitting. Now I know I have to go back. :)

I hope you feel better! Your mojo is probably taking a rejuvenating nap (as you probably need to do every once in a while).

  11. margene | March 12th, 2007 | 8:51 am

When the mojo takes a powder it’s your body sayin’ to SLOW DOWN! Take a break, relax and heal. Then and only, then will the mojo come back.

  12. caroline | March 12th, 2007 | 11:09 am

Feel better, chica. and now you, too have the La Lana habit. just sign over the home equity loan and be happy. hehe.

  13. Claudia | March 12th, 2007 | 11:28 am

SIGH! Well, I suppose if anyone besides me got to go to LaLana, I’m glad it was you ;-)

Seriously though - I hope you get that allergy thing under control soon - I know how it sucks the life right out of you (I have them too) and renders you practically a cripple. and it seems such a little thing too - but it’s completely exhausting. Maybe it has to do with the brain not getting enough oxygen or something…

Anyway - I hope you fell better soon… Are you taking Benedryl at night?

Taos? I am so envious… it is on my life-list, but hasn’t made it to the top. Thanks for sharing your great photos and I hope you are back in fine form soon.

  18. Romi | March 12th, 2007 | 11:40 pm

Feel better soon! I saw that amazing fiber at Stitches West. Isn’t it totally *incredible*? I drooled. :)

  19. tiennie | March 13th, 2007 | 12:49 am

Hope you feel better soon! The fiber is so pretty - looks like flowers!

  20. Heide | March 13th, 2007 | 6:30 am

I am so much loving that Indigo over cochinal! I swoon at the thought of so much lovely wool in one place. And the landscape pictures are
amazing. I’ve never been to that part of the country, but after viewing your photos for the past year it’s definately on my “must see” list.
Hopefully the allergies have subsided enough for you to start feeling like yourself again. Take care and the mojo will be be back with a vengeance.

It’s Daylight Saving Time, the root of all evil.

La Lana! I’ve got a kit from her that I’m saving for the perfect occasion. Just gorgeous. Hmm. It might need it’s own purse….

  25. Kirsten | March 13th, 2007 | 5:31 pm

    Must. go. to. Taos.!!
    Hope you’re feeling better soon.

  26. frecklegirl jess | March 13th, 2007 | 7:22 pm

    That fiber looks amazing!

It always surprises me how much allergies can wipe you out. I have terrible allergies myself. I have been thinking about giving acupuncture a try. Some people just rave about how much it helps. :)

Maybe a nice walk in some sunshine will help?

  27. Mary | March 14th, 2007 | 11:02 am

So what does one do with that purple thickspun? I agree that it is gorgeous, but, do you spin it finer, or do you use it as-is, somehow?

  28. […] Scout sent me some yarn from La Lana Wools that she acquired on her recent trip to Taos. Very inspirational stuff! I’ve never believed in having pet yarn, until now. I’m pretty functional, to a fault. (Hence my deep love of the sock.) But, this yarn shattered some of my paradigms. I love it when something comes along and blows out my brain cells like that.. It is really a gift. I wonder if the beautiful fox at La Lana would adopt me??? […]
