I didn’t sleep last night. I’m totally nervous. It’s finally here. Yep. My show airs today at 2:00pm EST on the DIY Network. I’m borrowing this picture from Vickie because I like it better than the ones I took. The necklace is from Modern Yarn and Vickie stole it from me as soon as the show was finished taping. I happily gave it to her. I just really can’t believe my show is on today. Shobhana and I have been talking about how completely surreal it is. (Her show airs on Thursday) Anyway, hopefully I won’t make a complete fool of myself. I guess we’ll find out in a few hours huh? Yikes. I was going to post about a few other things but I have too much to do so I’ll save it for another day. I hope a lot of you don’t get the DIY Network and then I can just lie to you and tell you how fabulous I was.

I don’t think we have DIY, but I’m sure you’re great.

Oh stop! You’ll be fabulous. I’ll talk to you at 2:30~
We don’t have DIY so I have to wait for it to be rebroadcast on HGTV:(. I can’t wait though, I’ve always wondered what your voice sounds like
and it will be exciting to find out some of your dyeing secrets. I’d say “break a leg”, but maybe break a needle is more appropriate!
I can’t waaaaiiiiitttt! I’m knitting the Van Gogh swirl while I watch. (since the “OTHER ONES” ARE DONE….8WINK *
I can’t wait to watch when I get home from work tonight (I tivo Knitty Gritty)! Everyone else’s episodes this season have been grand, I am sure yours will as well!
I am so anticipating watching your show. I’m taping it as we speak.
No DIY at my house either. I’m bummed. I’m sure it will be wonderful! The great part is, even if you see a flub, no one else knows how it was supposed to go!!!
I’m sure your episode is wonderful! I cannot wait to watch.
I can’t wait to watch it!
I wish I had cable because I would be sure to watch you. But I will be getting a copy of it from some one who tivos it. And I like the necklace too.

Don’t be nervous. You’ll be fine.

I don’t get DIY, but I know you’ll be fabulous. You’re Scout. You only do fab. *hugs*
I can’t wait to see it! I actually thought it was going to be on last Friday and when I saw that it wasn’t you, I was bummed, but then remembered that it was actually today. I know you will be adorable, and I can’t wait to see it!
I can’t wait, I’ve got the DVR all set and
ready - I think.
We’ll still love reading your blog, and still be all about buying your yarn, even if you totally blow goats on Knitty Gritty. But I don’t think you will.
I have TIVO all set! It is kinda like you are someone I know, even tho I have never met you… cause I started reading your blog before I ever heard of Knitty Gritty! So I actually started watching it cause you talked about it here.. and the Yarn Harlot mentioned it on her blog, so I figured “why not?” I am sure you will be great!
And I get lots of compliments on the bag I bought from you, and I tell people about your shop!
Would you like a copy of it on DVD? I’d be happy to make you a copy. Cynthia doesn’t get DIY so I’m coping it for her, too. Let me know if you want a copy!
Don’t worry, you’re going to be awesome
Get ready to ramp up the dyeing sweatshop though!
Oh, man. I don’t get DIY! You’re going to record it though, right? If I ask really really nicely will you make me a copy so I can see you in all of fabulousness? Because you *are* fabulous. Now stop worrying and go for a nice run.
You’ll be great!
Yay! This is so exciting. I’m thinking of ways for you to autograph my yarn on Saturday!
It’s gonna be awesome !
(I just saw Supergirl at the aquarium)
I wish I had DVR!!! Grr!!! I have DIY at home an I so wanted to see your episode!!! I’m sure you did great!!!
Thanks for the notice! I popped over here just in time! Can’t wait to see it!
I don’t have cable, though a friend said she’d tape it for me. Either way you are always awesome, sweetie.
Don’t be nervous, it’s your time to shine.

I just watched you on there, it was great! I learned a lot & now I need to make my own board! I just wish they would of showed us how long you nuked it for. I am off to Lowe’s to buy stuff to make a board! Great job girl, you should be proud. The headband looked great on you.
K and I both watched! You were awesome! Your directions were so precise and you
looked so calm. What a beautiful colorway!
You were fab darling- I just watched the show and was blown away with the gorgeous yarn. I just HAD to check you out online- Great job and I am going to bookmark ya- C’ya - Jules
my cable box is out of commission! waaaah!
You did GREAT! You didn’t seem nervous at all - and the yarn was gorgeous - and I learned a lot. It was truly spectacular! Can’t wait for the follow-up episode!
Congrats! I don’t get DIY up here in Canada but I’m sure you were great!
That was awesome! I had no idea that anyone could explain dyeing so well in such a short amount of time. I can’t wait to give it a go myself!
The show was wonderful! You did a spectacular job!
I’m going to make myself a warping board and give it a shot
One question, is there a special way to wind the yarn onto the board?
Loved the show!!! The only sad part was when it was over. But then I can watch it again since I recorded it. :):)
I don’t have DIY but I can’t wait to see it when it airs on HGTV.
I saw you today on DIY. I was so excited for you! Did you see me wave Hi!!!! LOL
Hugs!!!
It was FABULOUS!! You didn’t appear nervous at all, and all your explanations were really clear. The little belt was adorable, and I love the head scarf you were wearing. All-in-all, a delightful show!
What were you so worried about? You ROCKED! I think you were very poised and gave a complete explanation without stumbling or pausing. You were so prepared and looked very calm and comfortable in front of the camera. I think it was an amazing explanation for those of us novist dyers. In short, it was a great episode. CONGRATS!
I emailed and told you how great you were, but I’ll add it here too.
I loved it, articulate, beautiful and the nails looked great, since you had been worried about them.
JWW
Sounds like you were fabulous!!! Me no cable…
I NEVER watch DIY, but I watched today just to catch you! And you were great! Poised, articulate, thorough, conscientious and, thank goddess, REAL. Made for tv, you are!
Just had this phone conversation:
my mom: I saw a show today you would have loved!
me: what’s that?
mom: well, they had a girl showing three different ways to dye yarn, so your socks would look different each way. It was really neat! Do you want me to tape it for you when it’s on again?
me: YES!!!
This was followed by me saying you were one of my fave knit bloggers, explaining what a ‘blog’ is, and coming out as a blogger myself. Hilarious.
You were GREAT!!! I was so happy that I got to watch the show today. You did a wonderful job giving beginners, like me, some good tips for our own special creations! Thank you!
We don’t even get regular TV, so no chance of DIY. Will it be available on Netflix, though?
No lying necessary - you were great!
I saw the first part!! so far so good! Then my kids took over.. you know how that goes!
Congratulations!
I watched it this afternoon and you did a wonderful job!
Congrats on the show! I don’t get DIY after all but I’m sure you were Super just like you are in person.
I saw the show today and you were awesome! I love your hair wrap, where did you get the pattern?
You were really great on knitty gritty. Very natural! Also, you helped me out so much with my dyeing.
I couldn’t find the working board on the diy site. Do you know where i can find the instructions?
-Nishanna
I watched this morning (in Los Angeles). You were wonderful, Jamie — very knowledgable and articulate. You clearly knew what you were doing, were calm and inspiring. And I covet that necklace too!
You were fabulous! Congratulations!
I happened to be reading your blog and turned on the Knitty Gritty I recorded earlier. And there you were! Great job.
I was SO excited to come home and watch this episode! Rushed thru dinner and dishes and flipped on the TV , hit the DVR button, and was greeted with STATIC - the (*^@%#cable went out for 2 hours today!! AND I MISSED YOUR SHOW! And according to DIYs webpage, no repeat dates are listed - PLEASE PLEASE tell me someone has a copy? Or that they ARE going to re-air it?
Congrats, sounds like you did great!
You did great! Oh, and the colorway that I drool over too. Yummy!
I wanted to say, I really enjoyed the show! I have to have that colorway, just so gorgeous!
You looked relaxed, your voice didn’t waver, and your manicure looked great!
You were fantastic! Congratulations and well done!
Watching it right now and you’re doing great. And I’m a producer, so I know sucky when I see it. But I do not see a molecule of sucky. Also your head scarf totally rocks. You totally carry it off.
Dude…does it repeat??
I was away all day…I hope the show was great and you’re more relaxed;-)
My cable freaked out today too, so I missed it!! And it was the only KG I wanted to see! DAMN! Does any one have a copy they can throw up on youtube? /beg!!
heh ..that was awesome, loved the colours, loved the explanations.
Self-striping is brilliant. I kept thinking ..I kinda know her, in a onesided
internet sorta way.
Now I am impatiently waiting for Isela Phelps episode. *drums fingers on desk*
you were great! thank you - I learned so much and how timely. I just dyed my frist every skein of yarn last night!
watched while tivo’g it. LOVED IT. watched it again after kiddies went to bed.. loved it again. YOU WERE EXCELLENT…
Drat! How come Dish doesn’t do a free preview when you really, really want it?
Scout! You were so cute on Knitty Gritty! There is nothing like putting a face and a voice to a blog! I told my husnabe, hey I have some of her yarn and I read her blog all the time! He was quite impressed. Now, I will just have to try the handpainting myself (of course it won’t be nearly as beautiflul as yours!)!
I watched you this afternoon and I thought you did a wonderful job. You can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Hope you get to do another episode.
You did so well! It was cool to see somebody I “know” on the show! You did a wonderful job and the yarn was awesome! Way to go!
I just watched it! I just watched it!! And you were fabulous
Really! You looked relaxed, spoke clearly and explained everything so well. And you were cute as a button the whole time!
I just watched the episode…I TIVO-ed it! You did great! Thank you for the great tips…..you didn’t even look little bit nervous….awesome!
See I was right: Scout = SuperStar!!!! This was hands down the best Knitty
Gritty Show I have ever watched. Your exlpanation on how to dye yarn
took out the mystery and fear I had of trying this for myself:) You looked beautiful,
smart, sweet, and just in command of what you were doing! Great nails too:)
When are you going to sell us some Scout Hand Dye kits:) Oh and now I must have some
of that Orchids colorway but the one with the white stripe and little leaf like
green blotches…. That was gorgeous! I am sure the orders are pooring in:)
i watched and you were great! it was actually very informative and straightforward.
there is no reason to be self conscious, you looked and sounded like a real pro!
oh wow! you are GREAT, you seem SO comfortable and confident! I’m really impressed!
Go you!
You did a wonderful job! Congrats!
Just watched the episode I had DVR’d earlier today. You rocked and looked gorgeous doing it! You truly made it look easy to create beautiful hand-dyed yarn. You briefly mentioned some of your reserach for figuring out how long the colorways should be to get self-striping versus verigated and so forth, but I know it was probably a lot more work than it sounded. Not to mention color theory research. But then, that’s what TV is for — to make it look so simple that we won’t be afraid to try it ourselves. And it was great how you mentioned the Kool-Ade dying at the end — a much less intimidating place to start than the acid-based dyes.
A star is born!
So, you survived so far right? Are you overwhelmed yet? Haven’t seen it yet but sounds like you rocked! I wasn’t worried. Will catch it on HGTV when it airs. Keep the espresso nearby!
That was awesome!! You looked so relaxed and at ease! It was so cool to put a voice with the face so to speak! Don’t know why you were worried, but we all tend to be our own worst critic you know!
WTG!
I think you did an awesome job. I loved the yarns and my daughter fell in love with your headband…I suppose I’ll have to try to find a pattern somewhere and make it one for her birthday!
You rocked the show today. Great Job!!
You did great on the show! I can’t wait to tell all my knitting buddies that I
yarn dyed by a TV celebrity!!!
You did great on the show! I can’t wait to tell all my knitting buddies that I
have yarn dyed by a TV celebrity!!!
I tivoed it and I thought you did a GREAT job! You looked great too - I love the pink and
green colorway of the yarn and the scarf you were wearing!!
Scout - your Knitty Gritty was Great! Way to go!
Le sigh. I thought it would be on HGTV too.
Bummer. I hope they air it soon cause I want to see you!
Well? How did you think you did? I don’t get DIY, so I’ll just go by what you say…
I LOVED the show. You did really great. The necklace is super cute, thanx for the link. Thought it was really cute. GREAT JOB!
Called in sick yesterday so I just happened to be home to watch you on DIY. You did a fabulous job! Very helpful info about dyeing self-striping yarn for this dye newbie.
I have Knitty Gritty on TiVo Season Pass, so it was waiting for me when I got home. You were fantastic! Don’t believe me? My boyfriend actually watched it with me after I told him it was you. “Scout from the blogs?” he asked. “That’s so cool!” And it was. Great, great job, Evil Scout.
Hi Scout! You rocked on Knitty Gritty yesterday! I was like a proud mama, and I’ve never even met ya! You didn’t look nervous at all–in fact, you looked like an old pro! Your show was one of the most interesting I’ve seen on there for a while, especially since I know absolutely nada about dyeing yarn and how you do it. Lots of work, that’s for sure! I also loved seeing how you dye differently to achieve the different striping and patterning. Great job!
deb
Scout, I learned so much from your show! I’m totally inspired to do some hand dyes! Also — I love your headscarf; did you design it yourself? Is the pattern available for purchase?
Congrats again!
p.s. Julie, HGTV is still airing Knitty Gritty (reruns), but at 7:00a.m. EST Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
It was a great show - you were wonderful! Now I’m off to figure out where the pattern is for that headscarf - it was too cute!
Your famous now!
I liked your episode (you were well spoken, pretty and it was fun to watch you hand dye things)!
That was a cool belt you designed, the belt buckles were a nice ‘touch’.
-K
Jamie, the episode came out absolutely GREAT! I had a chance to watch it last night and didn’t realize I looked so darn pregnant on the show. But I’m glad I had the chance to be Knitster and meet you and Vickie (and of course, the other Knitsters)! You rock! I’m glad that all worked out well.
Ok, so I tiVod yesterday and am just watching now. I had to stop to tell you “YOU ARE MAVELOUS, DALINK” reall.
And I’ll never be able to get some of your yarny goodness now!
