I’ll try not to get too mushy but my eye candy today is this shot I posted
yesterday up on Flickr that has a lot to do with what I want to say.
So many people and their furry friends donated to help cover Phoebe’s vet bills it just warms my heart. I love this community so much it’s crazy. These blogs are so much more than just journals and our knitting ia so much more than just a craft because it brings us all together. I mean look at what we can do when we work together? Isn’t it amazing? I truly thank each and every one of you for donating to this cause. It didn’t even matter if you only donated $5.00 because it really is all about the thought that counts. Keep an eye on Mel’s blog for updates. He told me yesterday that Phoebe had her pelvic fracture set and she was doing great. Now that sure made me happy.
I used the random number generator to pick a person who donated to the cause and the winner is AllyB! You have won a $30.00 gift certificate to Scout’ Swag. You can buy some swag or have a skein of yarn dyed for you. Just check out the gallery and let me know if that’s what you want. I will send that to you right now! Congratulations!
Thank you all again so much for helping out. You all just rock. I know that Mel and Phoebe and Phoebe’s family thank you and your furry ones too. Have a great weekend!
From Mel’s comment below. Do we completely kick butt or what???!!
Phoebe’s mom actually called overnight to talk to me and let me know how much everyone’s support meant to them. They’re hoping to get her home tomorrow, and I will be posting an update. I need to see where numbers are this morning, but totals are handily over $5000 at this point, mostly in donations of $25 or less. I am totally blown away.

It’s amazing what we can do when we all work together. We are knitters, hear us roar!
This really is pretty awesome. Over $5000! What a generous comunity we have here on the internet! Thanks for helping to get the word out about Phoebe.
Of course this specific instance is great, but it also is such a perfect case to show how I feel about life in general. If every person does their little bit, in their corner of the world, so many problems would be solved. People think “I cannot do enough to make a difference” so they do nothing. But this was a perfect example, each person’s $5, or $1, or $20 alone would not have made a difference. But all together, they have made a HUGE difference. If we all get in the habit of doing what we can, where we can, the world will change. Now I shall step off my soapbox!!
That shot is gorgeous. I’m getting chills thinking about how quickly knitters pull together for those in need. Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention!
I’m so glad to have been able to help…thanks for letting me know about this! xx
Knitters are wonderful! If we ran the world we’d have knit nights and spin ins rather than peace talks. And everyone would have their own hat and/or socks. The only obstacle would be convincing the muggles that sheep on the White House lawn would be a good thing. The Indie Swag arrived yesterday. LOVE it. Thank you.
Well, you know, knitters ROCK!
Yay knitters! Congrats AllyB.
what a great and hopeful way to start the year! thanks, jamie (and rabbitch, too) for leading the way…you rock!
I didn’t get around to it till today, but I chipped in some too. My Mom had a similar thing last year–she found a kitten who needed very expensive care and the vet wrote it off but accepted donations, so part of my Christmas present was a donation to the vet.
That is outstanding! Samson wants to send his best wishes to Phoebe, along with his toy money for the next few weeks. Thank you for letting us know how we could help.
Knitter’s are pretty awesome:) And so are you for cheering us on to help! Got my Swag today - wow!
Oh, the icing on the cake — Now you went and made me cry! She looks just like MY dog!
This is so heartwarming! Thank YOU for letting us know so we could help
Totally AWESOME!
YaY! Thanks random number generator!! I can’t wait to go shopping for my very own Swag! I’m so glad there was such a great response. I hope that Phoebe’s person is doing well also. Thanks Scout, you’ll be hearing from me.
Oh, come on, how could anybody resist those big eyes???
Glad to hear Phoebe’s doing better.
Juno says wuff.
thank YOU, Scout. Still can’t wipe the smile off my face. Hope Phoebe’s dad is mending, too.
