Nothing like a little barf on your Birthday!
How’s that for a title? I meant to come here and post yesterday but both kids were/are sick and T. had a bike race and I was just a bit too cranky. However, the day ended up well and I even got some work done which sounds crazy but it just means when the kids go back to school tomorrow I can play a bit more this week without this dyeing to do. Besides the fabulous dinner at my favorite restaurant this was what really made my day.
When T. got home from his bike race I went by myself to the bookstore and picked out a few new books. Not much makes me happier than crawling into bed after taking a shower and cracking open a new book. I have been a reader my whole life and can’t go to sleep without reading. I just love love love books. I’ve been a big Jodi Picoult fan for a while now. I’ve read about half of her books and just can’t seem to get enough of her. It’s fairly fluffy reading, but I just love how she writes! A friend recommended An Irish Country Doctor and I got the two Anthony Bourdain books because No Reservations is our newest favorite show. Since we are going to Italy in just over 5 weeks I wanted to read Under the Tuscan Sun because I loved the movie and was told the book is way better than the movie. Isn’t that always the case?
Speaking of Italy…. I have a bit of bad news for some of you. I am not taking any new yarn orders until June 1st. I have so much work ahead of me in April before we go I just can’t take on anything more. I have quite the dye queue going already plus the sock club and I don’t want to lose my mind before going on vacation. The shop will remain open while I’m gone but there will be nothing shipped from May 6th-May19th. T. and I have never been on a real, adult vacation and after 18 years it seems like it’s finally time for us to have one. I hope you can all understand. I hate saying no and turning people away, but sometimes you gotsta.
Speaking of the shop. I got in a few new things. I got the newest collection from Haiku and I know that I am one of the very few people to even have these pieces. The collection is called Karma Neutral - a new Haiku bag collection inspired by sustainable business ethics that address the need to utilize renewable materials and continue to deepen the commitment to long-term relationships with producers, retailers and customers. The fabric utilized in the body of these bags is 50% jute which is considered a sustainable fabric due to its rapid growth rate and the fact that no pesticides or fertilizers are used in its production. The Leaves collection features the unique appliqué and top stitching details found only on a Haiku bag. I have had one of the Nori Grab Bags for a while and I looooooove it. It’s what I use as a purse. I also got in more Pattern Tamers and the cool Stitch Savers featured on knitty.com this issue. (I have another order of Pattern Tamers that should be here this week)
Okay gang. Time for my soccer game. Have a good Sunday my friends!
