Sorry fiber friends. You can’t come! Even if you looked as cute as my kids I’d still say no!
The shop will remain open but nothing will ship again until May 20th. Maybe I’ll post a special Eye Candy Friday shot from Rome if you behave? Heeee! Please send me good travel vibes. Have I mentioned I’m terrified of flying? Yes. As in total anxiety attack afraid of flying. Have any good tips for flying on long flights? I am going to bring knitting. YES! I’m going to make a few pairs of Fetchings. Hopefully that will keep my mind off of the plane crashing. I’ll bring some magazines and some cards. Got the iPod too. But what else? Anyone? I’ll take whatever advice you have! I’m the ADD girl and can’t imagine being on a flight for 9.5 hours. Yikes. I mean I’ve been to Europe two other times but I was young and dumb and probably just slept. So hit me with your best ideas.
See you on the flip side! Right? I’ll make it home safely. RIGHT?!?!?

For the record - I’m also utterly and totally petrified to fly, but Italy WILL be my exception. Someday. I’m positively GREEN with envy.
(Have a great trip!)
Yes, you will be home safe and sound!! I usually stock up on knitting and a few good audio books on my i-pod for long flights. If you are bringing a laptop, some DVD’s help too.
Have an AMAZING time!!!
Your kids are adorable.
I usually knit like a fiend on the airplane because, in my mind, the nervous energy is what keeps the plane in the air. I was astounded when we went to Finland and I fell asleep on the flight over, yet we landed safe and sound.
You will love Italy! Espresso is cheap and good, as is gelato. Stock up.
Adorable photo of the kiddos! Have a fabulous time and come home with lots of tales to tell us!
Tips for flying - drink lots of water on the plane and also force yourself to go to sleep on the plane when it is night time in the country you are traveling to. This helps you adjust quicker once you get there. Also, upon arrival, force yourself to stay awake until at least 9pm their time. It really does wonders for shifting your internal clock to their schedule. Have a great trip!
ATAVAN! Go get a prescription. I’m an anxious flyer and I took 20+ flights last year, it was the only way to get over it and enjoy (Ok almost, at least to feel fine) .
Have a fabuloso trip!
I take Atavan for appointments with my endodontist. It would be a great choice for a flight. But, if you don’t like that…then a Tylenol PM or even a herbal something. I think I saw a Hylands sleep aid next to the Tylenol PM yesterday. And that’s the brand of teething tablets I gave to my kids. You’ve got enough to be nervous about just getting packed and going. So, you’ll probably need the extra sleep anyways. Have fun.
Have a WONDERFUL trip! I love love love Italy so much.
I hate flying too. The last time I went to Europe (this was before I learned to knit) I took a Xanax and slept for a lot of the flight. I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Have a great trip!
Knitting will definitely help, unless you’re flying through London. If you’re heading to Heathrow at all, take up crochet, because they’ll confiscate your knitting needles….
Have fun!
Hey, if nothing else works there is always those nice little bottles of liquor they sell on the plane.
Have fun!
fabulous photo of the kidlets. I would sleep, read, knit, drink and sleep some more. Have SO much fun that you can’t wipe the smile off your face for a week after you get back safe and sound.

Kick the seat in front of you for the whole trip. It’s loads of entertainment! Don’t forget to have a screaming tantrum and wail for a couple of hours.
I suggest taking some books on MP3 from Podiobooks or Audible, it gets me through my days in cubicle land.
Have a wonderful trip! Don’t waste your time worrying about what could happen (and what won’t happen!!) when you can be dreaming of all the great things you will see, eat, etc! Enjoy yourself!
sleep again… and ENJOY (eat lots for me and bring back truffle oil you wont regret it :))
Take a really good eyemask (I just love mine from Bucky - it even has a little pocket for my next suggestion) and earplugs. I also took lots of paperbacks that I could leave behind. Be glad that your flight isn’t as long as my last overseas jaunt - 18 hours in the air! Have a ball, and take lots of pictures to show us!
sleeping pills…. they work for me during looooong flights.
Have a great time! We have beautiful weather in Europe right now, so make the most of it (and post many many pictures when you come back)!
Have a fantastic time. I REALLY wish I was going, too!! But I know it will be amazing. Geez, those kids are cute!!!
Chemical assistance for anxiety-inducing situations is a very good thing, IMO. For me it was oral surgery and having three people’s hands crammed in my mouth for two hours, but if flying is what does it to you, then go get yourself some pills!
Oh, and have a great time. Rome is noisy and kind of dusty, but it’s a hell of a good time.
I totally agree with trying to sleep on the flight (I’m assuming it’s a night flight since most flights in that direction are). You’re already going to be jetlagged your first couple of days but getting on the same schedule as Rome ASAP will definitely help! I do find that jet lag is worse in the other direction, which will work in your favor! In any case have a wonderful trip! I can’t wait to hear about your adventures!
Hope you have a great time!! You’re going to be just fine!!
Oh! Have a WONDERFUL time!!!!
If I waited that long to take a vaca you can bet I’d take and antianxiety med!
Maybe you will even enjoy the flight.=-) In any event, have a great time, take some
beautiful pics, and share when you get home. I hear the food and shopping are
fantastic in Italy!
Bon Voyage!
ps- cute kids!
Cute kiddos! Have a great time!!
You’ll be fine - AND you’ll have a great time! See you when you get back! :o)
First have a great trip. Second, take two wash colth, a bar of soap and just in case a roll of toilet paper. I have been numerous time to Europe and sometimes we needed the TP and the wash colths and sometimes not. Walk throught the Forum and take in all the history. I wish I were going again.
Happy travels,
Gaye Jones
I just love the photo. Enjoy yourself.
I don’t know if I am too late or not. If you still see it: drink a lot of water during the flight and walk around, don’t mind the looks the other passengers will probably give you, it really helps make the jet leg less problematic!
have a fabulous time you!
i can’t wait to see the photos!
I’m a terrified air traveler as well. Two words that helps a trip… first class.
Have an AWESOME time!
Close the window shade, pop in a dvd, put on your headphones and focus on the movie screen. Works for my mom and she doesn’t like to fly either. You could also try her other idea: pop a Xanax and get a glass of wine on the plane. That really works for her!
atavan is the trick, ask your doctor for a few pills. it will change your life.
i never fly either and i flew twice last year thanks to atavan.
sometimes drugs help.

To ALL WHO WISH TO MAKE GOOD MONEY,
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:
Dear internet user :
Greetings! About two years ago, a friend came to me with a letter. She asked me to research the fact that this letter was indeed legal. I told my friend I would review it and get back to her. When I first read the letter my friend brought me, I thought it was some off-the-wall idea to make money. A week and a half later we met again at my home to discuss the letter. I told her I had taken the letter to the post office and they told me the letter she brought to me was 100% legal.
I was still curious about the letter, so my friend explained to me how it works. I thought it seemed like a long shot, so I decided against participating, but before my friend left I asked her to keep me updated on her results. About two months later, she called me to tell me she had received $800,000 in cash. I didn’t believe her, so she asked me to try this idea and find out for myself. I thought about it for a couple of days and decided I didn’t have anything to lose, so I asked her for a copy of the letter. I followed the instructions exactly, mailed 200 copies, and sure enough the money started coming in! It arrived slowly at first, but after about three weeks, I was getting more mail than I could open in a day! After about three months the money stopped coming. I kept a precise record of my earnings and in the end it totaled $978,493.00! I could hardly believe it. I met with my friend for lunch to find out exactly how it worked. She told me there are quite a few similar letters around, but this one is different because there are six names at the end of the letter, not five like some others. This fact alone results in your name being in far more returns.
By now you are surely curious to know what small change I made. If you sent a letter like this out, in order to be completely legal, you must actually sell something in the list; you must include these words, “Please put me on your mailing list” and include your address. This is the key to the program. The item you will receive for the dollar you send to six people below is the letter.
Here are a few reasons a person might give for not trying this program:
Some people think they can never make a lot of money with anything this simple.
Some are afraid they will be ridiculed for trying.
Some dream of large sums of money, but do nothing to actually achieve it.
Some are just plain lazy.
Some are afraid of losing their investment. They think this program is designed to beat them out of a few dollars.
This system works if you will just try it. You must follow the simple instructions exactly, and in less than three months, you will receive over $800,000. Guaranteed!
1. Immediately send $1.00 to each of the six people on the list at the end of this letter. Wrap the dollar bill in a note saying,”Please add me to your mailing list and include your address.
2. Delete the name in the number one spot and move the others up one place (2 becomes 1, 3 becomes 2, etc.) Put your name in the sixth position.
3. Copy this article. Change anything you need to, but try to keep this article as close to original as possible.
4. post at least 200 copies of the letter with your name and address in the sixth slot on message boards, news groups, chat rooms etc.. .
5. Keep a copy of this letter so you can use it a second time. When your name reaches #1, send out six more dollars and post your name at #6 to keep receiving money.
6. Note: This service is 100% legal. Refer to title 18, section 1302 and 1342 of the U.S. Postal and Lottery Laws.
How does it work? :
When you post 200 letters, it is estimated that at least 15 people
will respond and send you $1.00 you make $15.00
Those 15 post 200 letters each and 225 people send $1.00 you make $225.00
Those 225 post 200 letters each and 3,375 people send you $1.00 you make $3,375.00
Those 3,375 post 200 letters each and 50,625 people send you $1.00 you make $50,625.00
Those 50,625 post 200 letters each and 759,375 people send you $1.00 you make $759,375.00
At this point your name drops off the list, but so far you have received $813,615.00
Be sure to send $1.00 to each name below:
1. Gary L Henley 1112 East 8th Street Okmulgee, OK. 74447
2. Joline Verellen 4200 East M-36 Pinckney, IL 60171
3. Justin Whitmore 8817 W. Grand Ave. River Grove, IL 60171
4. Ray Smith 1825 Sylvan Ct. Sanford, NC 27330
5. Lance Duvall P.O. Box 93956 Lubbock, TX 79493
6. sarah vigliotti 33 cherry st. plymouth, ma 02360
GOOD LUCK to all and please play fairly and reap the huge rewards from this, which is tons of extra CASH.
By the way, please DON’T try to deceive people by posting the messages with your name in the list and not sending the CASH to the rest of the people already on the list, you will NOT get any. Always keep an eye on the newsgroups to make sure everyone is playing fairly. Remember, HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY!!!!
You and I are exactly alike on the flying bit except that you actually have enough nerve to get on the plane! Good for you. I haven’t flown since 86 or 87. No advice for you except to just keep making yourself get on that plane. Hope you are having a great time.
