I believe in justice and truth, without which there would be no basis for human hope.

~Dalai lama

I don’t normally talk about Politics in public. I know it’s one of those things you don’t talk about on a first date or with people you don’t know very well. I think by now we’re past our first date aren’t we?  So I’m sure it doesn’t surprise you that I am most definitely in support of Barack Obama for president. This is not to open up a whole debate on my blog about politics. I just want to put it out there that I woke up today with more hope than I have had in a very long time of the future of my children. I watched him speak last night through tears. It made me so emotional to watch him speak and know that I was witnessing such a historical event. The one word that keeps repeating itself over and over in my head today is - ENOUGH! Even if you don’t support Barack Obama you can’t deny that it’s time for a change. I don’t know about you, but I’ve certainly had enough. I want more for my children.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and Labor Day.

That’s a beautiful photo and a great symbol of hope for our children. I’m ready for change and I’m ready for Obama!

I am truly googly eyed for the man today. Yes, ma’am…more hope than I ever had for this country because, in no small part, for the historic nomination of Obama. For once, and I’ve voted many, many times, I’ll be voting FOR someone instead of against someone. It’s a great feeling!

Thank you for supporting Barack Obama! I’ve been following the race very closely and has found that he truly is the candidate we need. If McCain makes it into office, I may not have a job when I graduate college with my teaching degree. Barack is the best thing for my future and our children’s future. I’ve been so honored to be a Denver resident this entire week and to watch history made before my eyes. Its truly inspiring.

    See you on November 4th!

we not deserve better than the “feminist” ploy trying to be thrown as our distraction this morning… we deserve better for supergirl and the hope of our future.
I say ENOUGH with you, and will do whatever I can to support the best candidate we have… Barack Obama!

Loved that speech. I’m ready. Heh. I think I watched more political speeches this past week than I have in my entire life. And I liked ‘em!

I’ve pretty much been a Republican for most of my life, but I too am voting for Obama! Last night’s speech sealed the deal for me. I think America really needs him. Can’t wait for the debates.

Enough indeed! We need Obama so badly right now. My hope is that things really do change, and I’m willing to fight for the change we need. I was getting really down thinking about what kind of country I was leaving to my son… the son who, at 18 months old, can say “American flag” whenever he sees one, and can point out America on a map. I owe him more than a country dangerously in debt, hemmoraging jobs out the wazoo, and not quite liked around the world from our cavalier leader’s bullying foreign policy.

Our kids deserve better than that.

I, for one, will be dancing in the streets come November. Either that, or planning on moving somewhere else. No kidding.

I kept tearing up throughout his speech, too. I have more hope than I have in ages, and it’s all because of him. I can’t wait for the future with him as our president!!

wow. i was planning on writing just about the same post on my blog today. i don’t talk politics with anyone, but i am definitely in support of Obama and was also in tears last night listening to his speech thinking of all the good that could happen in the next 4 years and also the fact that it’s so exciting that (hopefully!) my daughter’s first president (I won’t even mention Bush to her when she’s old enough!) was a very important historical figure.

I am glad I wasn’t the only one in tears during the speech. One of the things I am very grateful for is that my children are seeing a black man, a woman, a mormon, (I almost wrote moron…but that was last election) running for office and that in thier perspective will be that truly ANYONE can run for office.
I have been rocking my Obama pin for awhile now, and found a site where I can download some transfers for t’shirts that I think I’ll make up for the kids and me.

Thanks for the shout out, Scout. Right back atcha. I let my little ones(11 and 15, so not so little I guess) stay up wayyy too late to watch the whole thing and they’ve been buzzing about it all week. Yay us.

My husband came into the livingroom while I was watching Obama and was shocked to see me sitting there with a pile of tissues and tears streaming down my face. That’s the first time I’ve ever heard a politician say all the things I believe about what a government is supposed to do for its people. It hit me hard. I also could not help but worry that some heinous individual’s going to try the same thing that happened to Dr. King. Please, let us keep this good, brave man, and let him do what’s been needed for a long, long time.

If he’s not voted in, I’m staying in Canada for good, that’s for sure.

My beautiful children are 16 and 12. Do I want to continue a senseless war that could potentially eat my children. No. You are hopeful? As am I.

Scout: Did you get a final email from me yesterday? About my phone call with Verizon? Because after all the jiggeting with our router that they had me do, I’ve sent out a couple of emails to you and others and haven’t gotten any responses. It may just be the holiday but now I’m wondering if my email has gotten bollixed up.

In case you didn’t get my email, Verizon hasn’t blocked your site in any way and the techs were amazed at the problem. Apparently the request to go to your site doesn’t even get past our router, though I can go anywhere else I want to. Your other Verizon customers may be having the same problem.

I didn’t see the speech, but I didn’t need to. One of these days I’ll watch it on YouTube. Right now I am watching the polls and worrying, and thinking about contacting Obama’s NH people to see what help they need. (There’s no point in my working for him in MA — if he can’t win here by double digits there’s nothing I or anyone can do for him.)
