Olympic Medals

Well lookie what my dear friend Bev & I cooked up for the Olympics!

(taken from her blog)

Medal3

The thrill of victory.  That’s what we’re all after, isn’t it?  We’ve signed on to the Ravelympics or the Knitting Olympics to strive for something just a little beyond what we thought we could achieve.  There’s no easy here.

For 17 days you’re going to craft your heart out, pushing past the pain, past that decrease you forgot, past the 13 rows you had to tink.  All for glory.  All for knowing that, yes, you can knit a complicated lace stole in 17 days.  For knowing that, yes, you can knit, steek, and finish an entire sweater in 17 days.  For knowing that, yes, you can finish those seven UFOs that have languished on your project page since 2007. For knowing that, yes, you can triumph.

You’ll have your finished objects as a reward.  You’ll have your blog badges from Bobicus Maximus and the Yarn Harlot.  But you deserve even more.

Medal

Why not award yourself the kind of Olympic medal that means the most to a knitter:  a skein of limited-edition, hand-dyed sock yarn exclusively from Scout’s Swag.  Gold. Silver. Bronze.  It’s all there to mark your fortitude, to commemorate your achievement, to celebrate your craftleticism.

Only 80 skeins of Olympic Medals sock yarn will be created.  Each beautifully dyed skein will be 400 yards of superwash merino, enough for socks worthy of an Olympian, or even a shawl to wear as a mantle of your success.  Whether you want to reward yourself or a member of your team, Olympic Medals yarn will be shipped by February 22, just in time to mark your achievement.

Go ahead.  Anticipate the thrill of victory.  No matter what happens in the next 17 days, you’ve earned this medal.

Help For Haiti

My good friend Romi has designed a beautiful shawl to raise money for Haiti relief.

The pattern is knit using Tactile Fiber Arts sock yarn in colorway Tangerine, a simply gorgeous color, and perfect in the pattern.   She loaded the pattern into Ravelry on Saturday night, about 11 pm PST and has already sent off $1,000 in patterns!

The pattern is priced at $6.50, with $5 going to Haiti. She has decided to send off donations $500 at a time, and has already sent $500.00 to Doctors Without Borders! Her goal is to sell 10,000 patterns. Please link to this post and pass it on so we can help her reach her goal!

Statistics:

Yarn: 437 yard skein of fingering weight sock yarn from Tactile Fiber Arts
Needles: US 6 for body and US 8 to bind off
Construction: Knit from bottom tip to top, so it’s very easy to change the size smaller or larger
Price: $6.50, $5 of which goes to Haiti relief
Where to purchase: On Ravelry or Designs by Romi
Goal: Sell 10,000 patterns!
Favorite geeky detail: The bind off used is a reverse stockinette i-cord that looks like the body of the shawl but creates a nice firm tube that you can thread blocking wires through for a perfectly straight edge.

GO BUY A PATTERN!

THANK YOU!

I’m just making room for some new items so you get to benefit from my lack of space!

new actions & presets for my photog friends!

My friends Cindy & Lauren have some new actions and presets for sale. They are sooooooo great. I know a lot of you out there love to buy and play with them so I wanted to make sure you saw them. Another friend Seth created some great Lightroom presets too. Check them out!

The Hermosa is here!

The largest handbag in the Namaste collection-this bag has it all - the Hermosa!! I am blown away by how beautiful this bag is.  Exterior pouches with 2 separate compartments, rear document pocket, water bottle storage, extra side pocket, and a super solid construction. The interior features 3 pockets (1 zipper pocket and 2 open-top pockets). This bag stands up on it’s own with 5 metal feet on the secure bottom. The Hermosa bag is a “must-have” for those who must carry it all. Available in 5 fabulous colors including black! I have to say that the best part of this bag are all of the various pockets. The one large side pocket is big enough for a magazine! A black Hermosa has found a new home with me. I LOVE it. Please note that this bag on its own weighs 3lbs. Once it is boxed up it weighs 5lbs so the shipping charges are a bit more than the other Namaste bags. But trust me. It’s worth it for this bag.

Take the new Mini Clutch out for a night on the town or an evening with your knitting or crochet group. Features a detachable shoulder strap for easy transport, 2 interior snap-top pockets (great for crochet hooks, scissors, pens, or other small items), storage for your credit cards and cell phone, and super strong magnets for fast closure. Available in 5 great colors including black and ridiculously cute! My new Hermosa was lonely so one of these mini clutches decided to keep it company….this job is very dangerous for a person who loves bags!

A divinely simple way to keep your stuff in its right place- the new XL & XXL Oh Snap! pouches come in a set of 2 to bring the Zen back to your life (and your handbag). Whether you’re a tidy two-shoes or a messy marvin, Oh Snap! keeps it all together for you. Customized Namaste snaps, carefully crafted mesh pouches, it’s effortless organization- Oh Snap! SIZES: XL: 14″ L x 2″ W x 10″ H  & XXL: 15.5″ L x 2″ W x 13″ H

All other items from Namaste are updated as well. Everything is stocked to the hilt! If anything sells out simply email me and I can get it back in stock within a week. You can simply place an order and I will ship it as soon as it arrives. Namaste promised me that they are well stocked with all of these new items.

The rest of the shop is stocked as well. I will be going on vacation from July 15th-25th and there will be no shipping during that time. The shop will still be opened but if you need anything before then make sure and place an order.

As always, I thank you for your continued support.

Eye Candy in the form of a Pattern!

Check out the new pattern, Kimberly, by Lisa Shobhana Mason! I did the photography for the sweater. It’s absolutely gorgeous so make sure you grab a copy!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

a little of this and a little of that

So I promised the other day I would come back and tell everyone what the heck has kept me from posting on this thing. May was absolutely nuts. Wrapping up the Twist Collective job seemed to take up a lot of time as well as the last month of school for the kids. Then there’s been a little bit of this:

and a little bit of this

and a little bit of that

You get the picture. It’s been just straight out. There’s been also been a ton of soccer for me too. Needless to say I don’t feel like I have time for anything! But it’s been fun. The kids started camp today and I might finally be able to catch up with everything I have to do. Including getting here and saying hello to everyone.

To anyone who lives locally? I have a dye class I’m teaching this Saturday at Village Wools and there is still room. There is a 2 hour class this Sat and a 3 hour class next Sat. I haven’t taught around here for a long time and I’m really looking forward to it. If you want a peek into what I do in the class check out this set of pictures from San Fransisco last summer. So come play with me this weekend if you live around here and want to learn how to hand dye yarn!

What else? Oh!!! I just finished reading a fantastic book - Blue Boy. A good friend of mine, Tara, whose actions I have posted about before, is good friends with Rakesh who wrote this book. Please go and buy it and read it!! I promise that you’ll love it. It’s the type of book that stays with me and makes it nearly impossible to pick up another book to read because I keep thinking about the main character in the book. I finished it over a week ago and am still thinking about that boy. So go ……. NOW and buy it! Let me know if you do and what you think. I would love for Rakesh to be able to come and see that others have bought it.

Hummmm. What else? Oh! I am going to be in San Diego in July and was thinking about possibly trying to teach a dye class there. I found out the name of a few yarn shops but was curiuos if anyone actually had a favorite one there that would be looking to have me maybe come and teach? They need to have a good space for it and people who would be interested. I had so much fun last summer when I went to San Fran. to teach. I’d love to be able to do it in San Diego too. So if anyone lives there and wants to help me set something up….please let me know!

One final thing. Check out the new stuff coming from Namaste! Anything you see her ecan be pre-ordered. I will be getting it by the end of June. I can’t wait to see that new bag in person. Just leave me a comment or email me if you would like to get in on the pre-orders.

Okay. Time to work on some sock club stuff. I hope you are all well and that some of you are still around to read this!

Here Comes Eggplant

If you want to pre-order anything let me know!
