Can someone please tell me, how in the world, I all of the sudden have a 1st & 4th grader? Huh? Anyone? Bueller?
We go back to school now because they get out in May. June is our hottest month (supposedly) so we get out before then. If you have kids when do they go back? Tell me where you live too. I’m just curious as many of you are just in the middle of your summer vacation.
Also……. anyone else feeling a bit old? I mean really….these kids just seem so big. How has it been a year since this shot? It’s making me all teary right now. I wish my mom could see how damn amazing these two are. As many of you know, my mother passed away over 15 years ago and it’s times like these where I wish I could have her name on that email list of people I just sent this picture to. It doesn’t make me sad very often but for some reason looking at this picture makes me miss her. I need to go for a run and get these tears out of my eyes. Bah!
but it’s crafty! Leslie posted about this fun craft she’s been doing with her kids and I fell in love with the bracelets. After dropping my kids off yesterday at camp, I bought some bandannas and when the kids came home we all made a bunch. Even their friends came over and made some. Here are the ones the kids made.
I had to make sure I knew what I was doing before I showed them so I made myself a few. I totally love them!
In shop news the Namaste Bags are completely stocked as of about 5 minutes ago. They are flying off the shelves and I’ve been working nonstop to keep them stocked. If something sells out you can always pre-order for the next batch so just let me know. I also am one of the very first people to carry KnowKnits newest bag! Check it out. GoKnit Green. If you are like me, you have a bunch of bags you keep in your car for groceries. But this bag works even better! You can carry around this cute little bag in your purse.
When you are ready to use it? You just pull it out of that little pouch and voila!
GoKnit Green carries all purchases: knitting supplies, groceries, travel accessories, etc. Convenient storage, in its own mini case, allows it to be attached to a purse strap or belt loop. When in use your tote can hold up to ten pounds of goodies! The mini case, now becomes and interior pocket to securely store a cell phone, keys, etc., when the cordlock is safely drawn into place. Scout’s Swag is carrying them in 5 colors right now. Depending on how well they do, I might consider carrying all of the colors. Let me know what you think!
Time to get the kiddos off to camp. Next on the list is a total redesign of the blog. It’s about time don’tcha think? I really actually miss posting here and think a redesign will get my heiny over here more. I feel fall coming on and that means one thing…..KNITTING AGAIN!!! Yep. For reals yo. I mean I am going to Rhinebeck and everything. I need to make something for that right? Or get someone to give me something to wear……
It’s been over a month since I took a sunset shot. What is up with that!? I hope this makes up for it. Click it to see the bigger image on Flickr. It’s much better bigger. Scout’s honor.
Thank you all for the sweet Birthday wishes. She had a totally great day and ended it with a sleep over with her best girly Miss. V. (Carole’s daughter) They were up soooooo late. I’m afraid to see what they are like this morning. This was them before we went out to dinner. They are so funny because they always end up wearing the same thing.
For anyone looking for the Pattern Tamers I will have more on Monday hopefully. I had 20 last week and sold them out within hours and then had 50 on Weds night and sold out of them within 24 hours. I am trying to get another 50 so I can keep them in stock!
My espresso machine is calling. Have a great weekend everyone!
Crazy huh? Some of you have known her since she was born. I can’t believe how fast 6 years can go. I love this girly so much. She is such a cool girl. She makes me laugh and smile every single day. Lately, my favorite thing she does is demands to be kissed on the lips before she goes to bed. If I even turn my head at all she yells, “KISS ME ON THE LIPS!”
Six seems so much older than five doesn’t it? *sigh*
Happy Birthday to the most super Supergirl evah!

I do not want this post to cause anyone to faint. Remember back here where I had finished one of T’s fingerless mitts? Well since then? I not only finished his but two more pairs for the kids. That means three pairs of mitts in one month. Not too shabby huh?

They all totally love them and love me for making them. Now I don’t know what to knit next. It was weird last night not having something to knit. Sure I could work on one of my UFOs. I dunno. I need to think about it. Anyway. This pattern is great and I just modified it a bit for the kids. I still cast on the same amount of stitches but just shortened the lengths. I knit 3″ to the thumb instead of 4″ and then just measured the kids hands to see how much farther up I went after working on the thumb. For the boy the total length before casting off was 6″ vs. 8″ and I just made the girl’s a teeny bit smaller. The yarn you see here is just some Bernat camoflauge I had laying around the house from when the kids were knitting a few months ago. I highly recommend this pattern for a super quick and easy knit.

My big boy turned 9 today. This picture is so funny if you know him because the kid always has a smile on his face and never looks like this. I was cracking up so hard taking this I could barely keep the camera straight. I love this boy more than words. He’s the sweetest, most empathetic kid I know. We get complimented on what a great kid he is all of the time and we couldn’t be more proud of him. Happy Birthday baby. We love you!!
A few of my Flickr friends said this shot reminded them of a certain U2 cover.
I couldn’t resist. He makes a good model!

(to those who celebrate it of course) May you and your families all have a wonderful day. My kids wish you a Happy Thanksgiving too.
Yes, this was an outtake from a session I did with them yesterday for our holiday card. I should just use this one as it pretty much sums them up. Nothing like having your sister try and strangle you! In the end I did get a few really great shots of them. But still. I should have never told a friend how great they were about taking pictures. I totally jinxed myself.
For all of my Holiday shoppers out there I have a HUGE shop update. Some of you get the newsletter but even since then I have put more things up in the shop. First of all, the Cat Bordhi books are just in. I put them up about five minutes ago. Ever copy I have is signed by her and it is more than just her name. You just have to buy one to see! I also updated the tape measures this morning too.
If you didn’t see, due to the overwhelming response, I am pre-selling the new Haiku Grab Bags. I think there is only one Chocolate Bloom left. I will try and get another order placed next week. They are the cutest little bags! The Go Knit Pouches are restocked as well.
Within the next few days I should also have more Yarn Ball Boogie key-chains and Yarn Ball Earrings from Romi. There are aslo a few new patterns coming in from MimKnits and Pick Up Sticks so keep checking in the shop. You can bookmark the *New Products* page to make it easier to see what I’m putting up. I’m sure I’m forgetting something…..I’ll come back if I can remember anything else. Otherwise? Happy Shopping!
Have a great week/weekend too!

bob ‘n’ beep wanted to brag about how much Superboy kicks ass at knitting. This is his progress so far. He can knit an entire row without making a mistake. This mama is pretty damn proud. And see, look at that tension! Poifect! We talked about it and he said, “Yeah it’s just like weaving. You don’t want to pull too tightly or leave it too loose.”
Oh. Okay. Didn’t even know he knew how to weave….

Rest In Efficiency
Aries Daily Horoscope You could feel analytical and pragmatic today as you focus on achieving your goals. This could cause you to feel disconnected socially and yearn for a greater balance between your personal and professional lives. You could remedy this feeling by consciously choosing to put your work aside for a few hours and enjoying some recreation with friends. Though you might feel a need to stay disciplined, too much work and not enough rest could create the opposite result that you are striving for. Instead of being productive, you could become tired and overworked. Choose to set aside short periods of time for fun and relaxation today, and you may find that your focus improves and your productivity increases as a result.
We can feel more positive and purposeful about our work by regularly granting ourselves the gift of recreation and relaxation. We might feel that we need to stay focused and disciplined until we get the job done, especially if we are working hard on achieving the goals we’ve set for ourselves. While this level of dedication is admirable, it can also erode our enjoyment of our work. Choosing to create a state of balance and moderation in our activities will help us enjoy our daily experiences more. This helps us be more focused and productive when we are working. Remember that a rested mind is an efficient mind. Take time to honor your need for fun today, and you will help yourself achieve your goals.
I have the Indie Swag to dye so I’m off! This month’s colorway is really cool. It was inspired by a balloon in the International Balloon Fiesta. It’s different than anything I have ever seen. John helped design it. And y’all know he has some serious color skills!
Also, I’m not the only one knitting in the house. Look who wants to get in on the knitting action.
I taught him how to knit once before but it didn’t really stick. He’s been asking/begging me off and on over the last year to teach him again. I finally went out the other day and bought both kids some cool camo yarn and their own needles. After the boy finished his homework yesterday I finally sat down and showed him how to do it. He learned faster than most adults I’ve taught. By the end of the night he had about 24 rows done on his first scarf. (about 4″) When I woke up this morning he had already knit 2 more rows. He totally loves it and has perfect tension. I’m amazed.
