Isn’t ironic that after the Julie Amero post I dye a new colorway for John of Yarn Ball Boogie that we name Inner Rage? I love it. It has shade of deep red, orange and bright yellow. They all blend together to make one beautiful skein of yarn. This skein shows the colors a bit more muted because it’s in my new yarn. I want to wait for the Indie Swaggers to get their yarn and then I’ll talk more about it.
One more picture with the roving he ordered too. You can see how the colors are a bight brighter in the roving compared to the skein. Yum. Click them both to see the bigger version.
I want to thank every single one of you who donated and posted about Julie Amero. I took all of the names, doubled the ones who did both, and the winner is…….
HELENA!
Congratulations and thank you Helena. You win a $25.00 gift certificate to Scout’s Swag.
I’m completely wiped out. I busted out all of the Indie Swag and another big order I had and now I’m ready to just sit here, watch tv, have a beer and knit on Supergirl’s Cabo Hoodie. Oh, and speaking of Indie Swag? I will have an announcement about round II very soon so make sure you keep an eye here on the blog. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to make it as fair as possible to everyone and Adam and I have something in the works. It sure pays to have a brilliant, computer geek as a good friend! And hey, have you checked out his new shop? He’s got some beautiful yarn for sale over at Yarn Nerd. Make sure and get on over there if you haven’t yet. He’s good peeps.
Also, if you have a minute, please go over to Carole’s blog and send her husband Todd some get well soon vibes. He was admitted to the hospital last night with an aggressive case of cellulitis, and is on IV antibiotics, as well as morphine for pain. He is still there as they want him on IV antibiotics for 48 hours. The scariest part was that he had two antibiotic shots yesterday which didn’t seem to do anything. Fingers crossed that what they gave him today will do the trick. I just tried calling her a bit ago but her cell phone doesn’t work in the hospital. I’ll update if I hear anything.
Supergirl just came running in to drag me outside to see this.

It almost matches the yarn.

and I’m in a sleeveless shirt. Do you know how happy this makes me? (Look Dave! I made the degree symbol!!!) It feels so good to have this weather. Don’t hate me. We already had our fair share of horrible weather this winter. This is what it’s supposed to be like here! I’m feeling a bit better today and even went for a little run. It felt good to exercise even if I didn’t feel 100%. Thank you for all of your “feel better” wishes. Since I can’t ever sit still, even when I’m sick, I’ve been catching up on my work. Yesterday I got a bunch of roving dyed and I’m completely in love with this new one. I’m going to say it. I almost wish I could spin, just to be able to spin this Prepster Roving. The one on the right is a birthday present for Bev. The one on the left goes to the first person who wants it. It’s 4 ounces of the softest superwash merino for $18.00 plus shipping. Get it out of here before I try and learn how to spin it. I can dye more if you want some. Just let me know. The braids wanted to do a little subathing since it’s so nice outside.

I’m off to get a bit more dyeing done. I think we even need to use the grill tonight for something other than steaming roving.

I have four braids of roving up in the shop that I dyed yesterday. This is with my new 100% superwash merino roving that is so, so, soft. One is called Poison Apple and the other it Pomegranate from the November-Indie Swag colorway. The Indie Swag colorways are exclusive sock yarn colorways but I thought I could at least let you have it in some spinning fiber. This is also the colorway that Miss Violet talked about on the latest podcast. I’m really digging this Poison Apple. It almost makes me want to learn how to spin. Almost.
The
GoKnit Pouches and
Haiku bags are restocked and the
Namaste Bags will be in by the end of the week. I’ve also decided to mark down the
Midnight Blue Bags since it is a discontinued color. It’s a really pretty color and you’re getting a good deal on it with the 20% off! I’m going to try and get a few better pictures of it and will add it to the description on the shop page.

Yummy. I just got in a little bit of new roving to try. Just a little 10lb bump of merino lambs wool superwash top. Ten pounds…. that’s not a lot is it? Oh wait, that’s like 40 braids of roving. Heh. But oh, my, goodness it’s so soft. It was finally warm enough to dye yesterday and this was an extra one I dyed. I’m selling this 4 ounces for $18.00 plus shipping to the first one who asks nicely. Come on sun. Warm it up so I can work!
This one was a custom order. Tarzhay roving. I am having so much fun with this new medium. Can you tell?

Yay! Pretty roving!
Tuesday, 4:30pm.
Wednesday, 6:45am.
Boooooo!!!!
WTH!? Snow!
Crap! And it was almost dry too. Oh well. I guess I won’t be doing much work today. Maybe it’s a sign to get my ass in gear to go shopping for a few outfits for the show. I’m set in the jeans/shoes/accessory department but just need to get a few different tops. Mona? Want to go shopping? I hate shopping. Really. I know that probably sounds weird but I do. And, no matter what I wear I’ll still look like an Amazon woman standing next to petite Miss Thang, aka Vickie. I wonder if wardrobe could put some gigantic, bulky, sweater with horizontal stripes and cables like this so she looks bigger than she is? Maybe they can at least give her a box to stand on? I guess I don’t really know exactly how tall she is but she looks teeny tiny. I’m 5′8″ and with my clogs I’m almost 5′10″. I’m pretty sure that’s at least 5″ taller than she is. Do you see the things I’m thinking about that are causing me insomnia?
Ooooh! Ooooh! I just got the
Clover Account! Huzzah! I just ordered a whole bunch of
mini kach-kachas,
Chibis in different sizes, the
Pendant Threadcutter and some other
cool things! I hope to have them within the next week. This makes me so happy. Going for a run in the cold snow does not. But I must run. Must. run. Going. On. TV. Must. Run…..

Knitter on board Yo! I should get a magnet made that says that. I think my car basically says that anyway. Don’t you think? Ignore how dirty my car is too. I just stocked the shop with the yarn magnets and the license plate covers. People had said they were hard to find and wanted me to carry them. Now you know where to get them. I now have three different magnets and put them all together to make it easier to find them.
And I just want everyone to know that when you buy anything under a pound the priority shipping is $4.05 PLUS handling fees. That covers things like boxes/paper/printer ink/gas to drive to the PO, etc. I try to be as fair as possible with my shipping. If you ever have a question about it just let me know but I know my shipping fees are on the low side. I made sure of that. I’m not trying to get rich on shipping fees I promise!
Also, the Socktoberfest roving is for sale. The other 3 are gone and I can’t wait to see how they spin up. It was overcast yesterday so the colors are much more vibrant in person. I hope to do more once I’m caught up with custom orders.

Check it out.
I took a little detour and did some of this for the first time.
Puesta Del Sol & Harlot’s Mums

People have asked me why I haven’t been dyeing roving and to be honest? Up until now it totally intimidated me. The other day I was talking with someone when I had a major *a-hah* moment. Our new grill has a separate burner where I can steam roving and yarn! I refuse to do any of this stuff in the house which is another reason why I haven’t played around with this yet. I know that sounds weird but I just don’t want my kitchen to turn into my dye room if I can help it. I picked up some roving at the shop yesterday, soaked it today in some Aquae and it was ready to go. It was my first time using the Soak and I absolutely love how it smells. Even while the roving was steaming I could smell it. Besides these two I also did a Socktoberfest and a Death Eaters. Miss Lime gets first choice as I promised my first hand-dyed roving to her, and then the other 3 will be for sale. I’ll get the price and details up once I know which ones are available. Now I can’t wait to see someone spin with it. Is this something you would like to see up in the shop from me? If enough people want it, I’ll definitely do more of it. I’ll still carry Pippi’s roving though!
