Before I leave for Taos I leave you with this picture taken a few minutes ago.
I’m bringing my camera with me up to Taos and hope to get some good shots. I’m going to the Acupuncturist in a little bit and I hope he can make me feel better. I am still miserable. I didn’t sleep at all last night because of my nose. I also hope to check out the Yarn shops while I’m there. I told T. to bring his bike so he could go for a ride as soon as we get there and I can take off by myself for a few hours. I can’t wait. Bye y’all.
It’s that time again for the whole Scout clan to start soccer. Superboy missed his first game due to the play but Supergirl had hers. They haven’t played since October and yet they came back playing even better than the fall. They totally rocked and won their first game. She scored a goal and assisted another. Fun way to start off the season. I liked this Saturday Sky shot.

The hood is up because it was freezing. I have to say that I’m totally jealous of her soccer uniform. It has this cool tribal-like tatoo on the shoulders. I wonder if I can convince my team to get them? Speaking of tattoos. How many of you have a tattoo? I was thinking about this the other day. I think we need to do a tattoo-meme. Flash your tattoos. I’ll get a better picture of mine and post them within the next few days. I have two on my back and have a third one planned. I got both of mine after my mother died. I guess you could say that I did them both with her in mind. What about you? Let’s call this the Craft-Tat Meme. I want to see your tattoos. I know a lot of you have them. Show em off! Even if you don’t have one, how about show what you would get if you ever got one? Leave me a comment or do one of those pingbackthingamajiggies so I can see.
I almost forgot. You have to see the new hoodie we bought for Gus yesterday. Superboy and I were laughing so hard in Target when we found this. We knew we had to buy it. Funniest dog attire EVER. Can you read it? It says Punk Barker. HAA!!! And it looks even funnier on Gus now that he got groomed. This way he doesn’t look like such a weenie. Now he’s all bad-ass when he barks at people at the front gate. Who knew there could be so much fun involved in dressing up a dog?

Don’t let the pretty blue sky fool you today. We’re having some crazy wind right now which makes it very unpleasant to leave the house. I took a few shots near my house of a few things that make me happy.
This is in front of our local fire station. I drive by it every day and I just love it. You know what else I love? The fact that this is going in right by my house.
For those of you who don’t know, the Flying Star Cafe is a local Albuquerque chain. You can read more about them over on their website. We will be spending lots of time there once it opens. Free wireless, tons of magazines you’re allowed to look through while you sit, great food and the most amazing desserts. And I don’t even do sweets. I do Flying Star sweets though. Can you say raspberry-peach pie?
UPDATE on
Carole’s Todd. He is still in the hospital and will probably be there until Monday. He was not responding well to the first few rounds of antibiotics and they were worried they needed to go in and
debride the infection. His fever is finally gone so for now, the
Infectious Disease Specialist says they will hold off on surgery for now since it’s getting better even though it looks worse. They put in a
PICC Line in yesterday as he will need to be on IV antibiotics for the next month. Yes, at least a
month.
Carole will be the lucky person who gets to learn how to flush out a PICC line and administer the antibiotics. She and Todd want everyone to know they truly appreciate all of your well wishes. Keep him in your thoughts as he’s still not 100% out of the woods. I’m going to see her in a bit if anyone wants to pass along a message.

It was a beautiful day. I went for a long run and got a bunch of dyeing done. There was not a single cloud in the sky all day long. This is what it’s supposed to be like in New Mexico in February.
My sister-in-law and her husband are in town and we have a babysitter for the night. I think it’s time for a big cocktail. Ayup. It’s 5:35pm. Most definitely cocktail time.

I couldn’t decide which one I liked the best so you get three. I hope you had a good Saturday. I was on strike today and refused, for the first time in a very long time, to do any Scout’s Swag work. We went for a hike, ran some errands and just hung out. It was very much needed. I can’t remember the last time I took a day off.

The moon was so pretty this morning. This was taken at about 7:00am.
Every night at sunset, I love to watch the colors change on the houses across the street in my neighborhood. It’s one of my most favorite times of the day. You have to be out there at the perfect time or you miss it all. It’s truly amazing. You can almost see what I’m talking about in the pictures below how the houses change color but nothing like what it looks like in person. I want you all to come visit me just to see how pretty it is every single day just out my front door. The Sandias have been extra spectacular lately with all of the snow on them. Click the picture to see the pictures individually too.
I added these to the Project Spectrum pool too as you can’t get much more blue than this sky can you? If you needed a new PS button I made one a few days ago and forgot to share. You know the dealio. Save it to your own space.
Yesterday I thought I was going to have to stop taking custom orders for a few days because I feel like I’m behind due to the weather. Anyone who knows me well knows I HATE to dye inside my house because it’s just too messy and I don’t want to get dye on my tile floors. So you know I’m pretty desperate when I have to set up shop on my dining room table. Blech. But, I got two more sweaters done and a few other little things. Here’s the good news. Will you look at this! Holy crap. Temps in the 50’s? To have a few consecutive days of warm weather? It must be a miracle. I might be able to catch up in the next few days. So for now I won’t stop taking orders. Until the next Bizarro World weather hits us again I guess I will just keep swimming, just keep swimming….
And let’s all do the happy dance for Margene. Look! I think it might be above freezing today! I hope you have a great weekend in that weather M. May all of the nasty air go away and give you that beautiful, crisp, clean air we normally see in your gorgeous pictures.

Saturday Sky
I am soooooo tired of this weather!!!!! I’m off to teach my dye class. I wanted to thank each and every one of you for your words yesterday regarding the Dead Mom/Dad Club. Carole is right. We should start a blog? I normally try and reply to my comments but am just completely swamped with everything. So thank you. All of you.
Now stop this frick-fracking snow okay?

“That was the BEST day of my life!” was what I heard from Superboy when he called me on the way home from the mountain. The smile is still on his face and he begged us to go today and tomorrow. T. worked with him at the bottom of the mountaing for about 20 minutes which was all he needed before they got right on the chairlift. It only took five runs working with T. until the boy told him, “I got it. Let me do it.” That was it. I guess it’s genetic because he was skiing after that. I mean, literally going down the hill with T. behind him skiing. T. doesn’t even know how many runs they took but he said at least 20 runs with the boy getting off the lift and going non-stop to the bottom. Here he is waiting for T. to give him the go ahead to fly down the mountain.
Do you think they had fun?
After talking with my dad he already promised he’d buy us season passes next year for the family if we wanted them. I guess I might be coming out of retiremen? To see both of my guys so happy when they came home it made me actually a bit sad I didn’t get to see it! Our friend took some videos I’ll share when I get them. It’s hysterical to watch because the boy’s friend is seen going down all conservatively and then Superboy just comes flying by and you can hear is T. yelling, “TURN!” Pretty funny stuff. I’m so tempted to go tomorrow just so I can see him ski.
I got a lot of great Saturday Sky shots. There are a bunch up in the set.
This one was taken at 5:00pm. The Sandias got some snow today.

First let’s show you this. We got more snow last night and it’s freezing this morning. However, I got some beautiful shots. Here is one of T’s favorites but click to see the other few I snapped because there were all beautiful. This was another one I really liked. I think it’s so strange to see the adobe houses with snow/frost on them.

I’m going to talk about my big boy for a bit okay? He’s officially eight years old and currently enjoying a Double Chocolate-Chip Frappucino and three donuts. Hey, it’s his birthday he’s allowed whatever he wants right? He chose to have friends over last night for dinner and a movie and tonight we’re going out to dinner wherever he wants. Superboy is one of the sweetest kids I know. He’s loved by everyone who meets him and always has a big, toothy, Orthodontist’s dream, smile on his face. His giggle is infectious and he’s a total goofball. He’s extremely bright and listening to him read everything in sight is one of the coolest things ever. (although when he reads over my shoulder it annoys the crap out of me) In fact, I;ll have him read the comments here if you want to wish him a Happy Birthday. He’ll get a kick out of that. If you can’t tell by now I completely adore this child. I mean look at him. How could you not?

On the door he’s pointing to the cutest, free, gift tags ever provided by Kitty Genius. Both kids ripped them off of their presents and proceeded to immediately tape them to their doors. She asked to see pictures of them in their new homes and of course my goofball kids happily obliged. Supergirl liked hers too.

**Bloglines can bite me. It is refusing to update this post so who knows when some of you will even see it. Maybe we’ll get another foot of snow by then**
It’s still snowing and we have been outside all day. The kids decided they liked the snow today and I actually got some snowshoeing in so I guess I didn’t mind it so much either. For a little bit at least….. After two days of no naps, Supergirl is exhausted and taking a nap. Time for me to finish up this scarf. The middle picture is what I’ll be doing for the rest of the afternoon unless I go back out to snowshoe again. Click to see the pictures up close. T. made the kids the coolest snow fort with three different ways to get in.

My handknit hat kept me so warm. The hat I have on is an example of what I grew up knitting my whole life as a ski racer. Lopi, Lopi, Lopi. I’ve said before that I didn’t realize that colorwork and dpn’s were hard to do because that was all I knew how to do. I mean, I don’t think I even knit anything else other than ski hats until I was in college. I also didn’t know until I was in my 20’s that there was a whole world of yarn other than Lopi! Here’s a close-up of the hat. Did anyone also notice my warm and toasty toes? These are the beautiful socks I received in Sockapaloooza from Lucia. They fit me perfectly and I love them so much.
Alrighty. Time to knit. Will y’all do me a favor? Answer this for me please? What is your personal, preferred length for scarves? (In inches please) I am at 50″ on this scarf and don’t know how long I want to make it. I already had to get two more skeins of the Silk Garden, so I could make it pretty long if I want to. I still have a lot left. I’ll go with an average from your comments. I usually like long, skinny scarves but with a handknit like this I think I want it shorter. Let me know what you think.
