15 Years Ago Today….

I’ve written about my mother here many times before. So many of you over the past years have been such support for me in the times when I really miss my mother. I  wrote about her on Flickr today and will put it behind the cut if you aren’t feeling like you can handle reading this today. I just know that some of you would have wanted to know how I was doing today so I wanted to share it here too.

Owie!!!

OMG y’all. Five out of 10 of my fingers got smashed yesterday morning in the garage door as I tried to manually close it after we lost power. I thought I had to go to the ER at first it hurt so badly. That was after I thought I was going to pass out in front of my kids. This is the worst one. I think I need to do the ole poke a needle through the nail to relieve the pressure. T. wasn’t here when it happened and I sort of panicked at first because I couldn’t feel the tips of a few fingers. Did I mention I’m right handed? Thank goodness Carole was waiting for me to come get her so when Superboy called her and told her I was “really hurt” she was here in less than 5 minutes. I think she was expecting to see me bleeding to death based on what the boy said.

This leads me to the next bit of news. I am only going to take yarn orders for a few more days and then won’t take any again until I get back from vacation. We leave August 4th for a week to go on our first real family vacation ever. In 17 years!!  I am thinking I will take yarn orders again after August 15th. The shop will still be opened the whole time though. Thank goodness I’m fairly caught up because I can’t see dyeing yarn with my fingers like this. So if you’ve been wanting to place a yarn order and want it before September, now is the time to do it. I’m telling everyone 3-5 weeks on all orders. Most times I get it done faster than that but I would rather say longer right up front.

Crap. I need to go put this hand up. It’s hurting. Hey at least I have a good excuse now for not being able to knit. Right?

Project Spectrum

Still feeling like crap so I thought I’d take some pictures for Project Spectrum to brighten up my mood. When you live in New Mexico it’s pretty easy to get shots of things that are blue. Just look up. I love the picture of the little birdfeeder Supergirl made at preschool. Do you see the buds on the tree? That makes me happy. I’m ready for the warm weather.

ps

I also added a new colorway to the Gallery that I dyed last week for a friend to knit with’s daughter. It’s a perfect colorway for Project Spectrum April/May isn’t it? It’s called Prepster. Maybe I should call it Project Spectrum Prepster? I’m going to dye some roving for Bev’s birthday present later today. I can’t wait to see what it looks like in roving.

prepster

I really wanted to go to Stitch ‘n’ Bitch tonight but I’m not sure if I feel good enough to go. I think I need another night just hanging out and watching American Idol with the kids and T. I didn’t sleep very well last night and am feeling it right now. Maybe it’s time for a triple shot of something? Which one should I go for? Espresso? Nyquil? Vodka? It’s a toss up. I’m cracking up at people’s comments about mixing them all together. How about we call it a Vodkaspressquil? Nyquitini? I can’t imagine what that would do to a person’s system. I guess the the Nyquil and vodka would overpower the caffeine? Maybe I need to wait until another adult is in the house…..too funny. I’m so tired this is completely making me laugh.

Whoops. I Missed My Blog’s Birthday.

February 3rd was my one year anniversary of this blog. I’ve had other blogs/journals for almost 8 years but this domain name was just started a year ago. Happy Blogiversary to me. Can’t you feel the enthusiasm? No? Well, I don’t feel so hot. I’ve already done the ZICAM, Dayquil and Airborne. I need to get some Emergen-C too. I refuse to get sick. I rarely do and I’m going to keep it that way dangit. Anyway, I’m going to hold some sort of contest when I get close to my 10,000th comment so keep an eye out for that in about a month or two. I only have around 1,000 more to go until then so I’ll let you know as I get closer. I’ll think up something cool for a prize.

Here is some yarn I dyed for Carole. She wanted a subtle, variegated charcoal grey for Wicked. I can’t wait to see this knit up. Getting a good picture of this proved to be impossible. But you get the idea. I’m too tired to mess with it. Click to see it a bit better.

wicked

I’m going to bring this to Carole, come home and finish packaging up a few more orders and then I think a nap must happen. Blech. The good news is that I got a lot of work done over the weekend so it’s okay if I take the rest of the day off from work. I’ve already been to the PO once and mailed out about 15 packages. I think that’s enough work for today don’t you? Yeah, me too.

So much for the great day

I don’t handle stress well and when I have a lot on my plate I get these really horrible stomach aches. They are bad enough that I have a prescription to take when I get them. I can’t remember the last time I got one but today I got one full force. I was very productive this morning and am now laying on the floor hoping these meds kick in before I have to get back in the car to go to gymnastics to pick up my kids. Will you please send my stomach some healing vibes. I’m too busy for this crap. I need to feel better pronto. At least earlier I dyed yarn, updated the shop, went for a run and even met Mona for a pedicure. It’s easily been about 2 months since I got one and was planning on going today when she called asking where the place was that I liked. I told her, “I was literally just walking out the door to go so meet me!” It was in the rush from getting there to go and get Supergirl and Viv that it started hurting. I worked through it to reskein and package up over 10 orders. Now I’m done. Well for about 40 minutes. So you get a few pictures while I’m trying to get stomach of mine to behave.

This is a new colorway designed by Missy. It’s really pretty and it’s for her daughter. It’s called Bronte’. (How do you put the proper accents over letters anyway?) This is in a new fiber I’m carrying that’s a sport weight, 100% superwash merino. I really like it and the colors love it. Turquoise and browns….yummy. Thanks Missy!

And I just had to share this picture because It’s so cute. Both of my kids are members of the no cavity club at our dentist’s office. Every time you go you put a card with your name on it and once every 3 months they pick a name out for a prize. Superboy got his name pulled out! And dayum he got $50.00 towards a prize. When she told me on the phone I said, “As in five zero?!” I told them he would love a new dictionary so they bought that for him and gave him another $25.00 gift certificate to Borders. Our dentist totally rocks and here he is with his father, the other dentist, congratulating Superboy. They made a big deal about it and Superboy was estatic.

OKay. I think the medicine is kicking in. It’s some sort of stomach relaxer. I wonder if I’m supposed to drive or not? Eh, if I can’t drive very well I’ll fit right in. The drivers around here are the worst drivers in the world. Did you know in New Mexico that turn signals are completely optional? Uh uh. They are.
