I finally finished the chemo hat for T’s step-sister-in-law Hollis. She just finished the 9th chemo session out of 12 and is doing really well. This was the first time she made it through without getting really sick. Now that her head is shaved and it’s getting colder in NH I hope this can keep her warm and remind her that she’s in our thoughts constantly.
I used Mission Falls 1824 in the surf 664 colorway. The pattern is a hat fit for a boyfriend by Stephanie and it’s a super easy knit. I liked it so much I think I need to make a few more. You know, with me and how fast I crank out my knitting. /sarcasm
I’ve added a few more shots from the Obama rally the other day. Here are a few in a little collage for you to see. You can see the full set on flickr. I still have hundreds to look through and process. Damn that continuous high speed setting!

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend. I’m exhausted from my soccer game this morning. I woke up with my neck/back completely out of whack and hope that T. and his PT skills can fix me. I’m hurting!!!
but it’s crafty! Leslie posted about this fun craft she’s been doing with her kids and I fell in love with the bracelets. After dropping my kids off yesterday at camp, I bought some bandannas and when the kids came home we all made a bunch. Even their friends came over and made some. Here are the ones the kids made.
I had to make sure I knew what I was doing before I showed them so I made myself a few. I totally love them!
In shop news the Namaste Bags are completely stocked as of about 5 minutes ago. They are flying off the shelves and I’ve been working nonstop to keep them stocked. If something sells out you can always pre-order for the next batch so just let me know. I also am one of the very first people to carry KnowKnits newest bag! Check it out. GoKnit Green. If you are like me, you have a bunch of bags you keep in your car for groceries. But this bag works even better! You can carry around this cute little bag in your purse.
When you are ready to use it? You just pull it out of that little pouch and voila!
GoKnit Green carries all purchases: knitting supplies, groceries, travel accessories, etc. Convenient storage, in its own mini case, allows it to be attached to a purse strap or belt loop. When in use your tote can hold up to ten pounds of goodies! The mini case, now becomes and interior pocket to securely store a cell phone, keys, etc., when the cordlock is safely drawn into place. Scout’s Swag is carrying them in 5 colors right now. Depending on how well they do, I might consider carrying all of the colors. Let me know what you think!
Time to get the kiddos off to camp. Next on the list is a total redesign of the blog. It’s about time don’tcha think? I really actually miss posting here and think a redesign will get my heiny over here more. I feel fall coming on and that means one thing…..KNITTING AGAIN!!! Yep. For reals yo. I mean I am going to Rhinebeck and everything. I need to make something for that right? Or get someone to give me something to wear……
I’m trying not to think about T’s impending surgery tomorrow, so instead I’m sewing like crazy and I’ll show you what I made today. Lotsa pictures.
How cute is this fabric?
Ta Da!
By the time they were showered and clean I had the second one finished.
I had so much fun making these for the kids and they love them. I altered the pattern to fit them and then basically had each kid tell me how long they wanted the straps. All the monkeys in the house liked the bags too. T. (the bike racer) thinks they look like a cycling musette/feedbag. I guess they kind of do!
T. has his knee surgery tomorrow and actually no scalpels will be involved. Yep. He saw the surgeon yesterday and thank goodness he liked T. enough to get him right in. Because you know that’s how it all works right? You should always be super nice to all receptionists and doctors. I’ll drop him off early, come home and bring the kids to camp and then go back and hunker down until he’s done. I guess I’ll get some knitting or crocheting done? They said they are going to try and repair the meniscus but more than likely just take out the torn piece. Hopefully it won’t take too long. After my mother died I don’t do very well in a waiting room in a hospital let alone by myself. If you can send some good thoughts over to Abq in the morning I’d appreciate it. Do they have WiFi in hospitals? Maybe I can bring my laptop and be totally distracted.
I knew I’d be busy for the next few days taking care of T. so Supergirl and I got a whole bunch of stuff done today. We went to a few different stores to pick up some crafting supplies. Can you tell which fabric Supergirl picked out? She wants a bag too. (click to see bigger)
We also went to my store for buttons. Did you know that Village Wools has the best selection of buttons in the city? We have some super cool buttons. I love the sock monkey fabric she picked out. I can’t wait to see how those two look together though….
We also got these. I’m sure you can tell what I’m going to do with them.
We then came home and made some special cookies for T. They are called, “Oatmeal Chocolate Chip We Hope Your Knee Gets Better Fast Cookies!” Supergirl came up with that one. They are amazing. Here is the recipe if you want it. Don’t they look yummy? Since my little chef was still in the mood to cook she made herself a quesadilla for lunch.
Now I’m going to see what I can do with those little monkeys. I’m going to alter the pattern so it fits the kids better. I’m feeling pretty confident. We shall see….
I doubt I’ve ever mentioned I kind of know how to sew. I’ve made a few quilts, totes, etc. A few weeks ago a made a bunch of Heather’s headbands that are the cutest thing ever. Even Supergirl got one. Even my girl Carole got one.So yeah, I can do a bit with the machine. Not much, but just enough to make a few fun things.
As most of you know I’m helping put on the KSKS with Bev. Because we’re dorks we decided that it would be way easier to just have each other as pals since we’d have to split up the list and do way too much work to keep it a secret as to who our pals would be. Something happened so someone else has me now I think besides Bev. Anyway, I get to spoil her and I finally found the bag I wanted to make and it’s so damn cute I’m making one for me too. Actually, I’ll tell the truth, I made one teeny mistake on the first one so I’m keeping it. If your name is BEVERLY do not click the rest of this article to see the cute bag you will be getting this weekend when you come see me. Everyone else? click to see the cuteness!
