but I can already tell it’s going to be a great day. Who cares that I woke up at 4:15am and couldn’t go back to sleep. I’m just a happy camper right about now. Especially because of this!
For anyone who has contacted me recently about Socktoberfest yarn or any other custom orders I’m almost caught up and will finally be able to take some more orders. The free yardage is not being offered on the Socktoberfest yarn anymore but the colorway is. Leave a comment or e-mail me.
The swag in the shop is flying out the door and I would like to thank each and every one of you who has bought swag or simply talked me up somewhere. It all makes a difference. I really appreciate your support and nothing makes me happier than the daily e-mails I get from customers/friends who rave about their swag. The Soak Wash should be in within the next few days and I just restocked the Namaste bags. I also just got in 12 of the GoKnit Camouflage bags since that seems to be the most popular color. So thank you again. Y’all rock!

Lots going on lately in the Scout house. I am so tired after today I can barely see straight. First up I can finally share some really cool news. See this?
My Socktoberfest yarn will be a featured in the 2008 calendar in October!! There will be 52 featured yarns and mine will be one of them. I have to thank Lolly for inspiring me to create the colorway. I’m so glad the response to it has been so positive. It’s pretty cool that those of you who bought some will have yarn in a calendar in 2008! I guess I should start dyeing some of this to have a whole stash of it ready for next year huh? Oh wait, there are still people who want it now. I promise to let you all know when I can take some more orders.
In other news. I have spent the better part of the day today updating the shop with all of the cool new swag I will now be carrying. You will find new novelty tape measures, rockin’ t-shirts & magnets from Modern Yarn, Heal My Hands balms, and great patterns and kits from Pick Up Sticks.
I’ve worked really hard to find some of the coolest stuff out there in fiberland and will continue to update as more swag comes in. On it’s way are more Namaste bags, Glamscience stationary, spindle & hand-dyed roving kits from my girlfriend Pippi and beautiful pieces from Designs By Romi. The new website is still in the works and I just didn’t want to wait to get all of this cool swag up so you could see it. Carole has already picked out a t-shirt, magnet & some Heal My Hands. She deserves it as she’s helping me do a bunch of website stuff.
And finally. I can’t leave you without a picture of the kids from last night. Supergirl was a cat who meowed at everyone she met. Superboy was a Tae Kwon Do kid. (He really is a green belt but stopped a few months ago) I really worked hard on that costume. *cough* It went down like this. I called him from the Halloween store and said, “Hey babe. The costumes here are horrible. How about we just save the money and you can wear your TKD uniform? Totally easy and everyone will think you have the coolest costume ever!” He answered, “Okay, whatever. That’s fine.” Boy do I love that kid.
Oh. And for those of you harrassing me about seeing my Fergie pictures I’m trying! I don’t have them so I have to wait for them to be sent to me. I swear I’ll post them. Well, as long as none of them are of Fergie praying to the porcelain goddess. Peace out!

Thank you Blogless Linda for sharing your rockin’ socks. I think you must have the coolest socks ever. Will you all just look at these Socktoberfest socks? So dang cool. Oh check it out! Linda stopped by and gave us a link to the pattern. It’s a pdf file and it’s called Jack Sparrow Socks from Katydid Knits!
Look! This just in! Another pair and they’re Jaywalkers. Lotusknitter is the proud owner of these and they are totally kick-ass.

Any more completed Socktoberfest socks?! I’ll just keep adding them today.
Ready For Another Swap!?
Bev and I decided it was time to do round two of our kit swap. This time we’re moving up to the hands and doing a Knit Mitt Kitt Swap. Sign-ups have already started so go read about it on the blog.
October 26, 2006 – 1:34 pm
Check back on Monday or Tuesday to see if I can get some more up.
Thanks everyone!
October 26, 2006 – 9:34 am
Today at 1:00pmMST (3:00EST/12:00PST) I will put up 14 skeins of Soctoberfest for sale on my shop. If my website goes wonky again I will only take the first 14 that signed up. (if it somehow oversells like it did the Indie Club) You will get the free yardage with this as it’s still October. It will take me at least a week to get these out. So even though you won’t get the yarn in October, you will still get the Soctoberfest deal! Make sure you sign up beforehand as a customer to speed up the process.
I will more than likely offer up more of this before the end of the month too. It all just depends on how much I can accomplish over the next few days. This cooler weather slows everything down especially drying time. But it’s all good and I get to offer more of this yummy yarn! I hope everyone who e-mailed me gets some.
I also just updated the shop with all of my GoKnit Pouches. I am carrying 7 different colors and let me tell you, I love mine so much. It’s the most perfect size for carrying around your sock projects! I’m working on getting better pictures and if for some reason you buy one and it wants to charge you some crazy amount I will refund you the overcharge. We are currenly working out the shipping kinks!
October 16, 2006 – 2:44 pm
I’m trying so hard to catch up. To those waiting to order the Socktoberfest yarn I hope to offer at least 20 skeins up in the next few days. Just keep checking in here. If I can get the Gallery yarns done I will then be ready to dye more yarn. Supergirl must have lost her kryptonite because she came down with something yesterday, aka barfing, and is home today from school. You know Supergirl is sick when she won’t eat and will sit through not only an entire movie, but multiple movies. We joked that she’s going to watch as many movies as she can today. (We’ve already watched The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and Finding Nemo) Therefore I’m stuck at home and trying to take advantage of the time to finish all paid orders. Thirteen more skeins of this are in the mail today. If someone out there accidentally gets two skeins of this please let me know. Something weird happened and I can’t figure it out.

I had a really busy, but fun filled weekend. I’m glad that Domesticat and Duck put on a brave front and came down to meet the whole Scout family for breakfast and balloons. Go read about it at her blog.
I laughed so hard to read what Supergirl had said to her about our poor fish. We had so much fun they are going to come back down before headed back to Beantown (Boston, not prison) . They’ve promised a keg and a kitten. Who could pass that up. Although we’ll pass on the cat. And please don’t get a fish either. You see how well we take care of the one we have. Maybe just the keg? Figures, we meet some new, cool people and they are only here for six seven weeks.
In other news, I am going be the final stop on Lisa’s Blog Tour for Yarnplay! My Q & A will be similar to what Lolly did for her Spin to Knit Blog Tour stop. (per Lisa’s request after I told her about how much my SnB loved the book) To see my favorite pattern in the book go here. It’s called Edie and I might just have to go drive down to Texas and steal that finished one from her. Here are the tour dates:
sunday 10/22 - Knitting Aloud
monday 10/23 -Lolly Knitting Around
tuesday 10/24 - Knit And The City
wednesday 10/25 -Purl Jam
thursday 10/26 - Hook & Needles
friday 10/27 - Serendipity
saturday 10/28 - Scout’s Knitted Swag
Finally I just got an e-mail that the first Indie Swag package has arrived and she loved it. One down, 34 more to go. I’m off to take a Pepcid so I don’t get an ulcer. And I know I didn’t put anything in there about who the other swag is from. Please go read the blog where I talk about it. Remember, if you don’t like it, lie to me! Or just tell your dog. Or your cat. Or your almost-dead fish.

Well some of them at least. I think I got out about 13 of the 28 skeins of Soctoberfest that were placed. I know a lot of you want some and I promise I will let you know when I’m taking more orders. See, I am also getting a out a big order for a new art gallery that is about to open up in MN. If anyone lves near Waite Park you need to go check it out. It’s called Rogues Gallery. I’ve been approached by a number of stores who want my yarn but I’m just too busy to do it right now. I did agree to do this becuase I thought it was pretty cool to be asked by an art gallery to sell my yarn. (And I hadn’t come up with the crazy Indie Swag Club yet either…..) I have over 100+ skeins of yarn to dye this month so yeah, a wee bit busy with the Indie Swag Club, Soctoberfest and this art gallery. Speaking of the Indie Swag Club I’m hoping to get that mailed out in about 2-4 days. (a week before I thought) It’s all dyed, tagged and the Swag that goes with it is here and is super cool.
Another project I’ve been working on is getting the most accurate colors in the pictures of my yarn. Dave is always helpful and got me hooked up with a new toy that I made. I’m really digging the pictures I can take with it.
I love how this recycled sari looks.
It’s from Blonde Chicken Boutique and I can’t wait to knit with it.
I’m hoping that either later today or tomorrow
I can announce my big, exciting news so stay tuned.
October 10, 2006 – 9:09 am
This is what I saw as I dyed some Soctoberfest yarn at 8:30am this morning from my *studio*. It rained yesterday so the mass ascension was canceled. Today they did a mass ascension and a flying competition. Not a bad way to wake up in the morning huh?

It rained yesterday so the humidity is making it a bit hazy.

This one got lost I think. It’s completely east of the rest of the balloons.

Special Shapes! Look at that cute turtle!

I am congratulating myself on a few things. First up, I finished dyeing the 35th skein of Swag Club yarn last night. Yes. You did hear me correctly. Thirty FIVE. (remember how the club was supposed to be limited to 20? Grumble grumble Paypal . . .) If T. weren’t helping me do this I don’t know how I’d get it all done. I’m ready for one of you to come visit me on a monthly basis to help me dye some swag? Any takers? Now, I’m just waiting on the other swag that goes with it this month and I can get them ready to ship out in about a week or so. And no, that skein is not Swag Club yarn. It’s for Cynthia because she totally kicks ass.
My next cool news is that I am now up as one of the new artists at Indie Finds! Check it out. It’s such a great place to find Indie swag if you’re looking for some cool stuff.
And look! I finished my first ever knitted item with my own yarn. To read more about it go here. I dyed this for one of my classes I taught over the summer to show different things you can do with self striping yarn. I think I definitely need to do some more of this even though it’s extremely time consuming. Rock on with my Socktoberfest self!
It’s pretty cool that they came out exactly as I intended. I also have my socks down to a science and there is nothing like slipping on a hand-made sock that fits perfectly. I am already through the ribbing on the second one. I can’t wait to wear them!
As always, I couldn’t pass up showing you the clouds this morning. They were so pretty as the sun came up and bounced off the bottoms of them.
Have a good day everyone.
October 2, 2006 – 6:44 pm
**Okay gang…. I need to close this for now. If I can get all of these orders done in a few weeks I will open this back up okay? Give me until about mid-October and we’ll see. Thanks for the great response! And I’m not going to keep a wait list. Please understand that with this and the Indie Swag Club I’m up to my eyeballs in lists and orders!**
It’s Octbober! That means it’s officially
Socktoberfest! In honor of the hostess with the mostest, I created a new colorway -
Socktoberfest. This skein is for
Lolly for a pair of knee-highs. It was going to be a surprise but I decided to do something special for this month for all of the Socktoberfest knitters so I’m showing everyone the pretty yarn.

How fun will those be to wear on Halloween!? (Hurry up Lolly and finish the ones you just started) For the whole month of October, I will sell 500 yards of this colorway to anyone who is participating in Soctoberfest. I can do it into two skeins like this so you can easily make your knee-highs or into one if you’d like. That’s 80-125 yards free! (depending on the fiber you choose) The price will be $25.00 plus shipping. Just let me know if you want some. You can still buy it if you aren’t in Socktoberfest but you just won’t get the additional yardage. M’kay?
Speaking of dyeing, I have 4 hours until my soccer game and I had better git.
Oh.
my.
god.
I’m trying to write this post and Supergirl just yelled, “Daddy?! Why does butter have BUTT in it?” I’m laughing so hard I can barely type. I need to go work. Have a good one y’all.
