“Let’s Talk About Stash Baybee,

Let’s talk about you and me. Let’s talk about all the good things and the bad things that may be…..let’s talk about Stash.” Oh wait. It’s supposed to be sex right? I love that song.

Anyway, I’ve been meaning to ask all of you a question. I asked some of the Village Wools girls this the other day because it truly interests me. Are you a stash buyer or a project buyer? Let me explain. When you are in a yarn shop and/or see yarn online do you buy yarn with a specific project in mind or do you just think eventually come up with something to make with it and buy it because you fall in love with it? Or is there another type of yarnie out there I’m missing? I do not buy yarn just because it’s pretty. Honestly. It’s why I don’t have a very big stash at all. The yarn I have was either given to me or I bought to start a specific project. I don’t think I’ve ever bought yarn just because it was beautiful and eventually I would figure out what to do with it. I used to be a completely monogomous knitter but since working in the shop I’ve fallen off of that wagon. I will admit do I have quite a bit more than this

that mostly consists of Socks That Rock (with which I had better make the Sock Club socks or Tina will personally hunt me down and cause serious bodily harm) but really, I don’t have a very big stash. I think I just feel like when I’m ready to make something I’ll buy it. Otherwise it’s really hard for me to just buy yarn for the hell of it. Does that sound totally foreign to you? Or are you like me? I’ll give you another example. I saw this bag yesterday on clutteringmycouch’s blog. I didn’t just think, “Oh that yarn is cool I want it.” In my brain I thought, “Oh that could possibly be a really cool yarn for my Funky Scarf Swap.” So I bought some. In purple of course. (Shut up! My pal loves purple too!) I don’t care that it’s acrylic. I think it’s funky.

That’s pretty much the only way I will buy yarn. Even in the shop I get to see all of the most beautiful yarns out there in the World of Knitting and don’t just buy things to enhance my stash. I guess it’s just not in my personality to do that. I know we’ve all flashed our stash but I’m curious as to have you’ve aquired alla that. Am I alone in only project-buying yarn? Inquiring minds want to know. And…… GO!

Organized Stash - Check!

I did it. I’m so happy I want to go buy more yarn! I mean, I have more room for it now. See? I think each shelf needs to be completely full. Oh wait. I have a huge Rubbermaid container out in the garage too. That can just stay there right? The most fun was organizing the yarn into the shelves. Hi! OCD much?  And be honest. T. has never, ever seen all of my yarn out. We’ve been together for 15+ years.  Will this look like a lot to someone who has only ever seen a few skeins at a time out of a bag?  Crap. He knows about the Rubbermaid container too. It was all given to me right? Thaaaaaat’s the ticket.

Now I can go make my warping board. Click the picture to see the side of me you don’t want to ever mess with. Scout can be totally bad-ass if you didn’t know that already. Did I tell you how I threatened some men at SnB one night because I thought they were laughing at us? I showed them my biceps and told them I don’t work out for nothing and I could take them on if they were making fun of us. They immediately told us their wives were knitters and they were artists themselves and no way were they making fun of us. Good thing for them man. Do not mess with knitters!! I’m just kidding. I’m a totally sweet, laid back, non-confrontational grrl. I am! Really! Stop laughing!
