Here’s some more yarny love without the Scout’s Swag label. That other image was the only yarn one I had from last month. This is actually a colorway alllllll for me. I am making John’s new pattern Bounce with it. For ME! I have only ever knitted with my own yarn one other time. I’m completely in love with the yarn and the pattern. I’m already over halfway done too. Can’t wait to show you the hat.

got yarn?
Y’all know that Symeon/Pippi is a good friend of mine. AND I love her work. She just put a bunch of stuff up in her shop. Go buy it all right now will you? Please? I mean look at these!
If you buy something? I’ll love you forever!
For reals. Scout’s honor.
Let me know if you did. And thank you!
This & That (with ANOTHER Gus Update)
Can you believe it? Two posts already this week. I have a lot to talk about so grab a cuppa and have a seat.
First up, I got an email from Sharon, the owner of Haiku Bags and they finally got the bags yesterday. Their shipment has been stuck in customs for three weeks! I thought I would have them this week but will have them within 4-5 days depending on if they get them out today or tomorrow. But they are finally at Haiku Headquarters at least!
I got some yarny love yesterday from Elemmaciltur all the way from Germany! He was so sweet to send me a skein of Wollmeise so I didn’t feel left out. It’s really gorgeous and totally the colors I would have chosen for myself.
Thank you again Elemm! And if you have yet to listen to the Knitters Uncensored podcast what the heck are you waiting for? Huh? Go!!
I also have a new gorgeous colorway. This morning I was looking through the newest issue of Domino Magazine and there is an article on power couples/color trends. I saw one of the color combinations and literally had to go outside and immediately dye it. I would have never thought to mix these three colors but they look amazing together. This is one of “four utterly of-the-moment pairings (and a rockin’ threesome) destined to become palette standouts.” The one I dyed is the “rockin’ threesome”.
Damn. I really like it. Isn’t it pretty? I’m calling it Power Couples. I was going to put it up here to sell but John/YarnBallBoogie snatched it right up out of everyone’s hands. You can yell at him.
Finally, could you please send a little love to Gus? I’m taking him to the vet in a little bit and I’m really worried. He has something seriously wrong with him and I’m just hoping he doesn’t need surgery. Standard Poodles are notorious trash eaters and he must have eaten something because he’s pretty sick. Although I don’t know what he could have gotten into because there is nothing but his dog stuff in the back yard. I won’t go into details because it’s pretty gross but basically he hasn’t eaten in two days and is only drinking water as well as a bunch of other things where I just saw some blood which I know is a big red flag. Ugh.
***Just got back from the Vet. and Gus is staying overnight. The good news is that the moron didn’t eat something that requires surgery. They said he has a “mystery disease” that can be easily treated with some IV Antibiotics. It’s called Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis (HGE). Don’t read that description is you have a weak stomach or are eating. It’s gross. But the Vet. said that he should be feeling much better by tomorrow morning. I’m so glad I followed my instinct and took him in. Damn that dog for scaring me. He’s lucky he’s cute.
**Update #2** I just got off the phone with the Vet. and they are worried about him because he’s still pretty sick. With some of his symptoms they are worried he might have an ulcer which is related to possibly having Addison’s Disease. We probably need to go pick him up in a bit and bring him to the Emergency Vet Clinic for the night. Ugh. I really, really hope he does not have that disease. So please think about Gus again? Until we know more? Thank you….
Potluck Post!
Oh this will be a ramble so just hang in there okay? Let’s see. First of all, I’m going to give a little fake peek to the Indie Swag Club members. Just like last time, these are NOT the colors of the yarn but I wanted to tease you a little bit before you get your packages. They will probably go out on Thursday. I finished the dyeing and now they just need to dry, be labeled and packaged up with the swag. It’s fun messing the colors up on the yarn to conceal it’s identity! And I know, doesn’t the imposter look pretty!?

I don’t feel like it’s spoiling it to tell you a little bit about this months swag. Because hey, it’s my club and I can do what I want right!? (Didn’t I say this with month 1? ha!) This month’s swag has been almost a year in the making. Seriously. It is a pattern by Cookie A. Yes. You read that right. Cookie A. THE Cookie A. Pomatomus Cookie. Monkey Cookie. Are you with me now?!?! And, it’s amazing. Ohhhhhh just wait. She also designed the colorway that goes with the pattern. You can’t really tell but it’s a semi-solid that doesn’t look anything like the one above. It’s gorgeous. I’ll shut up now. But really!!! I’ll show the yarn and the pattern next week once everyone has received it. Patience my dearies.
Within the next two weeks Scout’s Swag will be completely restocked. Pretty much everything that is low or sold out right now should be up in the shop between June 28th & July 10th or so. Even the Haiku Bags! In a few days I will also show you a few new things I’m thinking of getting and I’d like your feedback. If you are not signed up for the newsletter at the shop, and want to be among the first to know when the shop is stocked, go sign up as a customer. I don’t send many emails but I do send them to my customers first. I will also be taking yarn orders again after July 1st and adding a few new colorways to the gallery too.
Finally, I wanted to give a shout-out to a new podcast I finally got to listen to today. Have you checked out Knitters Uncensored? Click the link. I will wait. Okay. Did you go? Download their podcast/s. I listened to all three episodes today while dyeing and I absolutely loved listening to them. They are funny, and Elemm’s accent is to die for! I have to say that I like a podcast that actually talks about other things than yarn. I mean, they talk about knitting, don’t get me wrong! But there’s other stuff too. I know that everyone looks for different things in a podcast but if you’re looking for a new fun one, definitely check them out. The other two podcasters are Ms. B/Bockstark Knits and Cashyie/Cashmacrylic. They all live in Germany now even though none of them are from there. Just go listen. I’m not telling you anything else! Many of you probably know of them already but I thought they deserved a mention from me since they kept me company while I dyed today. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to them and can’t wait to hear the next one. Hurry up you guys! You hear me?
I’m totally fried. I think I need a beer. Peace OUT!
Bittersweet
I missed Eye Candy Friday for the first time ever so I’m doing it today. Oh my goodness people. Take a look at this.
Sundara’s Aran Silky Merino. Need I say more? She sent me this little gifty and I have no idea what to do with it. But seriously. I’m in love. I’m happy to just pet and stare at it. This colorway is about to be discontinued so it’s even that much more special. Thank you Sundara. You knew I’d love this. I need to go now and pet it some more.

New Knits
I’m still working on the Cabo Hoodie for Supergirl but I also felt the need to start something new, easy and portable. I was on the phone with Carole when these two pretty girls called to me. They said I needed to jump into the Chevron Scarf Pool. Who could deny them of this wish? The top yarn is STR - Azurite and the bottom one is my own Strawberry Quick in tencel. I think they’ll look pretty damn gorgeous together.
In other news, my ankle is not cooperating. I am being a good patient and not going for a run today. Instead, it’s beautiful and Carole and I are going to walk the Academy and do a few errands. We rarely get time to just hang out together, sans kids, so I’m really looking forward to some girl time. Plus, it’s absolutely beautiful outside today.
I’m also really excited about a new project John and I are working on together. You’ll have to be very patient as we won’t be able to really talk about it for another month or so. Trust me, it’s way cool. You can have a little sneak peek on his blog today. He’s my new partner in crime so watch out.
Owwwwww.
Did you know that it’s really hard to run a business out of your home when you are stuck on the floor with your foot up on a chair with ice on it? Yeah. Doesn’t really work. I got wrecked in my soccer game yesterday. Another girl completely took me out and I flipped over her and did all kinds of really fun things to my body. Even the Ref. said he wanted to see that again in instant replay on the news. Thanks guy. It’s like a car accident where you feel all of the bruises the following day. I’m so hurting today. Luckily, I always tape my ankles because I’ve injured them so many times in the past from soccer I know better than messing with fate. My left ankle would probably be a lot worse if it hadn’t been taped. My official diagnosis, per T. the Physical Therapist, is that I “strained my peroneal tendon, just posterior to the lateral malleolus.” Doesn’t that sound exotic? Try saying it five times fast. Sorry, I deal with everything through humor. Isn’t laughter the best medicine? Let’s hope so.
Needless to say, the combination of the ankle and being swamped after the show has left me having to stop taking yarn orders for the next week or two. I hate to have to do this but in order for me to keep my sanity, I have to be able to catch up and get everything organized before I take any more orders. I’m just glad I was able to get a bunch of work done this weekend before getting hurt. See?
I limped around all morning getting all of this out the door. I was then a very good patient and iced the ankle. Do you know how hard it is for me to sit still for 30 minutes? I don’t do sick OR hurt well at all. This had better feel better soon. I need to be able to exercise or I turn into one cranky girl. I guess I had better go elevate the foot. At least I have wireless so I can drag my computer around with me. Maybe I’m just getting too old for soccer….
Pink, Green & Yellow Everywhere
These are just a few of the skeins going out today. It seems like everyone is wanting Project Spectrum colors these days. I just added four new colorways to the gallery. Make sure and check them out. The Hunker Down was for Christy for the Hurricane Sock Party 2007. I’ve been doing a lot of gradation dyeing lately so she gave me the freedom to do whatever I wanted with this one. I love it. It’s purple! How could I not? The Joseph’s Coat colorway was inspired by this rose as a custom order for Paula. I liked it enough to make it a regular. I also put up the Turquoise Snowbunny since there were so many requests for it as well as one final colorway that is a secret. I’ll talk about it once I’m allowed to. For now I’ll just call it secret.
Just a heads up to anyone wanting yarn from me. I’m super busy since the show and have about a 2-4 week wait on all yarn orders. Until I am able to catch up with orders and get the Indie Swag Club dyed, I have to give myself that much time for every order. Sometimes I might be able to get to it faster, but for now, that’s what I’m saying and I’m sticking to it!
Birthday Eye Candy
I would like to thank every single person who wished me a Happy Birthday yesterday. Unfortunately I was so sick I couldn’t reply to each one. I can’t remember the last time I felt this horrible. I was in bed all afternoon & night with a fever and chills. I finally took some advil and that made me feel better for a little bit but as soon as it wore off I was back to feeling like death again. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’m over it now.
My Eye Candy for today was the highlight of my Birthday yesterday. Some of you may have seen this already over on Margene’s blog. She spun this for me. For ME. Can you believe it? It’s actually even more purple than in the picture and it’s called Violette’s Dream. So, amazingly, gorgeous. When I opened up the package it made me cry.
She also sent me a copy of the Forest Canopy Shoulder Shawl and wrote, ” You can knit anything you like from this yarn but Susan’s pattern is a good first lace shawl.” And I hate to admit it, but I think she’s right. I might need to make this pattern with this yarn. For now, This yarn is just going to sit in front of me so I can stare at it every day. I love it so much. Margene, thank you so much again. I’m going to cry if I write anymore so just know that I appreciate this gift more than you could possibly know.
Okay. I’m going to stand up and walk around a bit and see how I’m doing. If all goes well I’m going be pampered by my girl Carole for my birthday. She’s taking me out for breakfast and a pedicure. I think it will be a perfect way to spend the day after the day I had yesterday. And don’t worry my friends, I promise to celebrate as soon as I’m feeling up to it. On Sunday we have a babysitter to go out for the evening so that will probably be my Birthday celebration. Have a great weekend everyone and thank you again for all of your wonderful birthday wishes.
